Honestly my heart sinks a little everytime I see they pictures He was an idol of mine as a youngster.

It seems like he's given his fishnets and heels to Canelo

not as big a name as some mentioned but carl johanneson . don't dislike the bloke but he pissed me right off when he put in a great performance to beat a determined hard working but naive ricky burns ,hitting ricky with hard punches all night . then chucked it against kirakosyan when the tables turned and he was getting hit as hard if not harder than he was dishing out.

if he had put the work in like burns he could have been something special , i thought so at the time anyway. there was comment at the time he had skimped on training and i thought that was out of order for such an important fight (european title i think ? ) and a chance to overturn the previous loss to kirakosyan .

i suppose he made up for it with the performance against mitchell later on , but i remember being glad mitchell won that fight when i would have expected to be fairly neutral on the night.

Remember Kirakosyan well. He chinned Johanneson twice didn't he? Also Scott Lawton. I'm sure Gomez and Foster both beat him but he was a tough little bastard. Similar to Kiko.

I remember he was being mentioned for Khan at one point but it never came off. Would've been interesting.

aye, he was a genuine hard nut from what i could see. looking at his career he was one of those i always thought would have achieved more had he been based in the uk or the states .
considering what burns achieved after the johanesson fight ,carl must look back and wish he did things a bit different.
