One for how they said it, it didn't come across as punditry, it came across as 'I wouldn't have done it, so I'm better'. Secondly, Bellew quit against Stevenson. Thirdly, Khan said it is better to get knocked out, which is ridiculous and ironic (Maidana fight aside I will add).
However, losing your sight is surely one of the scariest disabilities, and that is where the line is crossed for me. If he quits because he can't hack body shots then shoot him down all you like, but the fear of losing your sight is up there (but not quite as high) with the fear of a brain injury in my opinion.
Brook has been in a great fight, I had him one down going into that round and its not the first time Brook has been in an edge of your seat fight.
i agree with this. the problem for khan is brook doesn't get knocked out, he actually has a jaw that can take a punch.unfortunately his eye sockets appear to be his weak point. for those saying he should have fought on as others have fought through similar, i don't think it is possible to make that judgement unless you are the one being punched on the injury. every injury is different, depending how the bone breaks it could just go numb, no problem to fight through.
it could also be jamming into a nerve end every time it gets hit. add in the inability to see punches coming and i am all for the individual making that call and possibly prolonging their career.
Very good post. An eye injury involving broken bones is completely different to a broken nose or a cut eyelid, eyebrow etc. The corner can't work on it for a start and you simply can't risk splintered bones getting moved about inside the eye socket, one punch could blind you permanently. Factor in that Brook had a similar injury to the other eye in his last fight which needed surgery and he had every right to take a knee and make a decision to retire. One more punch could have easily ended his career or even worse, as it stands he maybe has the opportunity to fight again but at least it will likely be him who gets to make that decision and not a surgeon.
It was sickening to hear Bellew question his heart, as people have already said he didn't quite show that spirit against Stevenson did he? Khan is simply a mannequin with no charisma just following on from others quotes and making boorish statements like "its better to be knocked out" as if he is so much more gutsy than Brook. I'm not a Khan hater nor a Brook fanboy, anyone who steps into the ring is incredibly brave in my book but Bellew came as close to quitting as I've seen vs Adonis.

Some comments on here are laughable; had Kell gone back to his corner at the end of the 10th and told them he his eye was really bad; blurry and could hardly see they would have stopped it with Him on his stool and F ALL would have been said. He would not have been criticised at all for doing that and it would have been Brendan Ingle call so Okay. Kell decides to go for another round realises it just isn't going to happen and says enough is enough and all the usual keyboard World Champions jump on him
What disgusts me more than anything is Tony "I Would Die in the Ring" Bellew saying what he said on live TV. He has obviously taken one too many punches because his long term memory is shot to pieces, he clearly had forgotten the Adonis Fight where he DID BOTTLE IT so much so he tried to run away whilst turning his back on Adonis and if he had more faculties about him would have hid behind the referee if he could.
Some of the people who said Brook quit last night after a broken eye socket and going 11 rounds with a world class fighter
Will be the same people who will stand at a football match and applaud a player limping off with a twisted ankle.
Let that sink in for a moment!

Brook didn't quit, he took a fornicating pasting in there, quitting is what Roberto Duran did vs Sugar Ray.

Good thing Ali didn't have that attitude or who would have never transcended the sport.
You watch a combat sport yet don't mind fighters quiting? If he feels he should stop that's fine, but now he is finished at the top level because once you quit in anything it just makes it easier to do it again.
Also Brook was harping on about how he felt the pull out in the GGG fight was early and he was "just getting in the groove" and thought he could go on to win. Well now we know that was a load on non sense since he is now claiming it's the same injury but from a smaller opponent yet decided he couldn't go on.

I'm glad the consensus seems to be that Bellew's a fvcking gobshite who should be reminded of his own failings in the bravery department before he casts aspersions on the courage of a GENUINELY world class fighter like Brook.
People who've been on this forum longer than me say Bellew used to post on here - well I hope he sees this thread, sees this post in particular and sees all the disdain for his opinions and realises that while he may be able to fool Eddie Hearn, Anna Woolhouse and once a year boxing fans with his risible hardman act he doesn't fool the rest of us who see him for what he really is - a fat bully who hides when the going gets really tough

It's easy to sit and criticise and as paying fans you're entitled to do so but only to a certain extent before you start sounding silly. His eye was fukked and Spence was hitting him hard and often. Brook got the fight punched out him and Spence just kept coming. It must be difficult just to bite down on the gum shield and get on when it's your vision. It's not as if Brook just quit when the going got tough. He tried to fire back and showed some bottle. He was in with a very good fighter last night in Spence.
Bellews comments were just fukkin daft. Comparing him getting off the floor against Makabu to that last night? Very good Tony. Guy talks some amount of crap at times.
Also Andy Patterson on the asylum last night. I usually like Andy and respect his opinion but last night he went over the top with his criticism. Whenever anyone said something he didn't agree with he was being an abrasive obnoxious twat as well. I only listened to the first half hour and went to my pit but he was getting on my tits.
The better guy won last night. Brook showed in the first half of the fight that he can box with the best out there but he just seemed to run out of gas after the 6th and Spence took over. Hopefully they can make Spence v Thurman. I like both of them guys and that's a very good fight. Hard to pick a winner there.

Bellow and Khan , are just putting the boot in and giving it the big I am . Has pointed out by many Bellow bottled it against Stevenson , , Khan well he just gets ko'd anyway .
But has pointed out by Jackson , a injury on the eye is different , believe me most people would'nt know what its like to take a hard slap, never mind fight with a broken bone , ESPECIELLY A EYE SOCKET WITH SWELLING AND DOUBLE VISION SETTLING IN , fook losing an eye , take the money and play footy with the kids , eyes you don't play around with , lose one and the other has to do double the work

The Golovkin fight aas stupid. Imo it shouldn't have been sanctioned by bbboc. Could well be the organised beating they decided Brook should take now has his career in danger. That eye looks rather wrong.
Was the other eye. Perhaps brook has thin orbital bones?

Has it been confirmed it was broken again? When he was shown back in the changing rooms his eye looked much better after they worked on it a bit, I've not read much about it today.

I find it difficult to to critisize a boxer in brooks situation now. A few years ago it would have been different but knowing what has happened to John Murray and his eye operations and bad sight ( Lee Purdy as well) I'm not going to be too critical. The Golovkin fight had an impact for sure and it got inside Kells head.
Let's be clear it is not a quit job like Duran v Leonard or Walters v Lomachenko.
As for Bellew yeah I agree with people referring to the Stevenson fight, but his attitude before that never helped him

Brook was going to lose anyway, surely? I think if he felt he was far enough ahead he may have tried to see it out.
He made a sensible decision and you could tell he didn't really want to make it. He did quit, but i had no problem in him doing so as the fight was lost and now he can hopefully come again.
Needs to move up in weight though, gassed badly after 6 which was where he actually looked most in control during the whole fight.
Bellew is a dick.

He's gassed like that before when under pressure. I don't think weight is the issue.

I guess that is Steve Bunce and other respected pundits out of work then.
