If paul is anywhere near his best he beats zeuge quite easily. Who cares how he got his shot . This is pro boxing. Good luck to him
I'd be on a genuine downer if he won.Taansend wrote:I want Smiff to win but let's be honest, him getting a title shot is everything that's bad about boxing.
He hasn't beaten one decent opponent.
He's been a pro for well over a decade.
He hasn't beaten one decent opponent.
He shouldn't be fighting for a world title.
He hasn't beaten one decent opponent.
I hope he wins

He seems like a decent chap, good family man, speaks well, seems intelligent enough and his behaviour is exemplary save for what happened at the Liam Williams fight but fairplay to him he was just sticking up for his kid brother.
But all the Sky hype around the Smiffs would be ratcheted up another notch if he won even though everyone who knows anything about boxing, not least Paul himself I'd imagine, knows that he doesn't deserve the shot and he's nowhere near world level and never has been.
Adam Smith will be giving it "Paul Smith joins a long and distinguished list of British SM World Champions" and he'll reel the list off and to name Smigga alongside those guys will frankly be an insult to them.
I just find it all insufferable.
You've changed my mindTaansend wrote:

Agree. I hope Smith wins. He used to come on these boards and seemed a decent chap.JimJim2009 wrote:x2. Yes the title opportunity is undeserved but you can't hold it against him for accepting it. Yes it's for a crap title but you can't hold it against him for going ahead anyway, its the best opportunity he'll get.emallini wrote:The Paul Smith hate is so effing boring, I hope he wins.
Paul Smith has faced Andre Ward, Abrahams twice - all on away soil - as well as DeGale and Groves. You can't question his heart, he gets in the ring with these top fighters and gives his best. I accept he's not beaten good class opposition to get another world title opportunity but in this age of multiple world champions, some fighters do get second and third bites of the cherry and thanks to his promoter, Smith has Sky behind him to pay for the rights to UK coverage. It's appalling to learn that apparently the WBA will rank a fighter on demand, but Smith hasn't made up that rule, nor does he control Sky TV. This will be his last big opportunity and I wish him well

It's on Youtube,in German but looks like they both made the weight.ThereByTheGrace wrote:When is the weigh in or has it already happened?

Yeah but the difference is the guys like Rees werent complete pudenda.lefthook82 wrote:The fume on social media is making me want to bet on Smith stoppage at 10/1. He wouldn't be the first undeserved challenger to win a world title (Gavin Rees says Hi) but I think he might 'justify' the ranking by winning. T
Is it a decent scrap though ?I think it may be pretty one sided for Zeuge. De Carolis from what I see would whoop Paul Smith.PredatorHayds wrote:Take away the meaningless belt and it's a decent scrap.
Neither are world beaters but Zeuge by far the fresher should win on points.
Hope Smith makes weight or Twitter and this forum will explode.
I didn't think he beat Quigley for the British title.ShadrachSimmo wrote:But he beat Tony Dodson...twice.....Taansend wrote:I want Smiff to win but let's be honest, him getting a title shot is everything that's bad about boxing.

...in 3 and a half years
I favour Zeuge wide on points, but IMO Smith would be the best name on his record.Naandrew wrote:Is it a decent scrap though ?I think it may be pretty one sided for Zeuge. De Carolis from what I see would whoop Paul Smith.PredatorHayds wrote:Take away the meaningless belt and it's a decent scrap.

Not only would Christophe Rebrasses wipe the floor with Paul Smith, I believe there are at least 10 super middleweights in Britain ( not including his brother) who would beat him.
I'm out tomorrow anyway and will miss it but I'll be back in the the main fight this weekend.
Hopefully I hear Smith has taken a one sided beat down and out of the sport for good. It will give me something good to watch before the Ward Kovalev fight.
