I know,id never include the ibo iba wbu or wbf as a genuine title, the ibo always throws its titles on the line when there is a unification fight on,something needs to happen to get rid of these crap strips.

yeah, they not going away anytime soon so ignoring them would be job no1, it frustrates me to hell when I see "proper" fans giving them recognition

Good to see all 5 belts on the line.

However the WBC,WBA,IBF.WBO and IBO unification has been already done before!

Can anyone tell me who by?

The IBO was stripped from Indongo because he didn't want to pay the fees. The 4 major belts are in line.

The last time was when Hopkins lost to Jermain Taylor in their first bout (12+ years ago).

Don't get me wrong all 4 is enough to be considered undisputed.

I also understand that adding IBO as the 5th could bring more attention to the IBO and potentially more appeal to promoters.

But I like the idea of one man owning all the belts no matter how lowly regarded some of them are.

You cant then get a Chris Eubank Jnr pop up pretending he is world champion and putting his fights on PPV.

If you want to call yourself a world champion Light Welterweight, you have to get through the winner of Terrence Crawford (or Julius Indongo.)

get that, but to be a totally legit champ under that reasoning you would also need to hold all the other minor trinkets which is where it starts getting out of hand

I like them all under one roof and its a very rare accomplishment, just glad I am not paying the sanctioning fees.

There is certainly no drawback to a single champion. None that I'd hear. Unfortunately, Crawford will have to fight Lippnets or lose the IBF. They'll all be vacant soon enough. Enjoy it Saturday while you can, the best in the world.

I prefer a fighter to try and dominate their weight division rather than stepping up and nicking a soft fringe belt here and there.

Now if he moves up in weight after, which he likely will, its very much mission accomplished at light welter.

Is the IBO on the line. Not that means anything, but thought it was interesting that it hasn't featured at all this week at any public event. Normally the ibo are eager to push their title on a fight like this.

didn't realise Hearn had signed Indongo, why the hell he isn't promoting this more I don't know, it wouldn't have taken much to advertise it as a marquee moment in the sport on sky sports, guess his priorities lay elsewhere

Thanks for info. Quite farcical from the ibo. Spend their whole time attaching themselves to legit champions then when a rare undisputed championship comes along they strip their titleist! Bizarre.

I heard he and his team binned it as they didn't want to pay the sanctioning fee.

Absolute sickner of a body shot from Crawford to end things, you knew straight away Indongo wasn't gonna get up from that, Crawford was excellent again, Indongo never troubled him one bit, I think he hurt Indongo with a right hook in the 1st and when he put him down with the straight left in the 2nd I thought Indongo looked like he was stunned despite it not looking too hard a shot, and the left to the body to KO Indongo was just class

Great for boxing to have an actual undisputed champ in this day and age and nobody can deny Crawford deserves it, no ducking or disputed decisions, proper old school fighter with skills to burn
