The fight has been offered to summers for 16th sept but he had to turn it down as the dates clash with a family holiday. Ricky did say his open to the fight at a later date so it's down to yarde team.

Warren last week was saying we're not fighting Burton as he got KO'd by Buglioni / now they want to fight Summers who's just lost to him ? Where's the logic in that.

They are protecting Yarde as him and Dubois are the only 2 young fighters they have to market around.

Burton got stopped by Buglioni, Summers went the distance. Summers did the better job.
Either way W@rren wanted the man that beat them both, Buglioni.

Of course it’s a duck. And Burton says why in that piece in Boxing News. Buglioni won the fight with Hosea, but he was losing it until he pulled out a fantastic stoppage when it looked like the cause was lost. Buglioni is an easier fight for Yarde for a lot of reasons, mainly because Burton is technically much better.

It’s a load of nonsense to suggest that Yarde is too good to fight Burton at this stage. It’s the perfect fight for him, but he wants no part of it. That’s a solid gold duck in my eyes (and I’m a big Yarde fan)

It is a massive swerve from team Yarde - And to go fight someone less accomplished than Burton for a fifth of the money proves it.

I wouldn't say that Summers did the better job. Burton was winning the fight until being stopped late, while Summers was never winning and really just did better than expected. Burton is better than Summers IMO...

so now yarde is fighting some no mark called Ryan Ford - a UBO world champion! what a load of rubbish. burton v yarde is a fight for british boxing fans to get excited about...instead we get another patsy on the path of least resistance. yawn.

Ford is not a patsy and he has a stronger resume than Burton. It would be a good step up fight for Yarde...

i disagree, he has a poorer boxing resume than hosea burton. this is a much worse fight than burton v yarde.

it's a step up for yarde, but not as big a step as burton would have been which is what they are clearly aware of. disappointing match for yarde after what we thought we were getting.

I don't think Burton has clearly shown that he's superior to Ford. Ford is more of a come forward, in your face type though, and that may work better for Yarde. Ford has also shown pretty good stamina, so it will be interesting to see what happens if Yarde doesn't stop him early.

Ford has a win over an Olympic gold medal winner...think that puts Ford's resume up above Burton's with some ease

Ya, and defeating Berridge also gives him some credibility as a test. Basically, he's facing someone who beats fighters who would beat his previous opposition.

I would put Burton and Ford on a similar level (though still think Ford has a better resume), and I see both of them as good step ups for Yarde. Ford is obviously less well known among British fans though, so I can understand why it's a letdown to some.

Yes, he was booked in for Sweeney in Liverpool on Sept 9th.
