I was actually a bit surprised that Trout-Charlo was so close. Trout was taken apart, hurt, and dropped by Lara, and then went down multiple times against Dawson after that. I thought he looked on the way down and ready to be taken out by a supposedly huge puncher like Charlo. I wonder if Trout will come back and score some good wins, rather than just taking high profile losses.

Golovkin shouldn't be bothering with fighter's in Charlo's bracket. He's more than cut his teeth with such mundane fights. Time for the prize fights. If he doesn't blast out Canelo then they will likely have 2 fights in a row.

He's slated to face Jarrett Hurd next. I think Trout can beat Hurd.

After Canelo. Then outside of Canelo 2 or Jacobs 2, Charlo is definitely the biggest fight out there for him. Saunders has had such a joke of a run as titleholder that I don't know if most are even aware he has a belt anymore.

It will be interesting. Trout hasn't won a fight in 2 years and I wont be surprised if that's still the case after this one. If Hurd wins, does he become a big threat to GGG?

Everyone can beat GGG until they're in the ring with him and on the canvas.

You know Golovkin is one of the greatest middleweights in history (if not the greatest) when he breaks the orbital bone of his opponent and forces his opponent's corner to retire their fighter in the 5th round, and all the media pundits question whether Golovkin was going easy on him.

Charlo is light work for Golovkin.

GGG might be reaching a point in his career where there's no such thing as light work for him anymore against high level fighters. Not sure yet. I'll be curious to see how he looks against Alvarez.

So Golovkin had to fight all top 160 lbs contenders at that time like Proksa, Macklin, Stevens, Geale, Rubio, Murray, Monroe Jr and champs like Lemieux and Jacobs to get a fight with Canelo and Jermall just fought a one legged man and suddenly he becomes 'the man that Golovkin has to fight and other than that is ducking!' ??? WTF ??

Let Jermall fight guys like Lemieux or Jacobs and work for his shot at the champion!

It's kind of funny to see so many people from this forum agreeing with Abel Sanchez's comments in this thread by claiming that a bout between Charlo and Golovkin is "bad for boxing", coupled with their belief that Jermall has to "build his name" in order to "earn" his shot at GGG, despite him being a former world champion and also the mandatory challenger to the WBC title.

It absolutely fûckîng reeks of double standards, because when GGG's big name rivals previously cited the exact same excuses as their reasons for not being interested in a bout against Golovkin, the very same set of people boldly proclaimed them to be "cowards" and "ducks".

Jermall Charlo is at least in the top four of the opponents that GGG has/will face depending on your personal estimation (i.e. Lemieux, Jacobs & Canelo).

Yeah Ok. Go sell that crap to someone else.

Charlo has beaten Trout and Julian Williams. Trout would be a top 3 win for GGG.
Trout is patented American garbage.

Charlo getting a lot of hype for a guy whose best win was a super close decision over Trout. Lara did a far better job and Canelo hurt Trout worse than Charlo ever did.
I thought Canelo lost to Trout myself. I had the Charlo vs Trout fight a draw. Trout usually always does exceptionally well, but for whatever reason he's always written off as "The other guy" in the fight.
I've scored the Canelo/Trout fight like 4 times and each time I had Trout winning the fight even with the KD.

Lara is an atg. He beat back than the most avoided boxer pw, he prety much easily beat canelo. If lara was a us trash talker than he would be recognized on the level of floyd, talent wise they in the same league!

Would be interresting to see how ggg would deal with such an athletic defensive boxer with great reach such is lara.

Ggg vs lara/charlo/jacobs 2/eubank would be the final 4 fights i would like to see from g after the canelo fight.

Lara is definitely not an ATG. I wouldn't even call him a Great in the here and now. He's certainly got great POTENTIAL, but the wins and the performances just ain't there to be calling him "Great"

Well what about all the rubbish Team Golovkin have had to put up with and the antic's of Golden Boy and Canelo its probably just rubbed off on them I cannot wait for GGG to KO the golden boy. :TU: :yay:

I think fighting a winner of the SMW tournament would be a much better choice for his legacy. Grabbing the WBO belt while waiting for that winner would be a perfect scenario.

• Didn't Jorge Sebastian Heiland initially gain mandatory challenger status for the WBC title 2½ years ago, whilst remaining undefeated since he gained that moniker until his loss to Jermall Charlo?

• How many top-ten world-rated middleweight had Willie Monroe Jr. faced prior to fighting GGG?

• Didn't Matthew Macklin lose two of his previous three bouts prior to facing GGG?

• Wasn't Nobuhiro Ishida a former light middleweight that had failed to win ten of his bouts (at the time he fought GGG), entered the ring against Golovkin having tasted defeat in his previous two outings?

• Didn't the former light middleweight, Gabriel Rosado, lose five of his bouts prior to facing GGG, having never previously engaged in either a 160lb bout nor a world title fight?

• Didn't Lajuan Simon lose three of his previous five bouts at the time he fought Golovkin… and had even lost his previous bout immediately prior to facing GGG?

• Hadn't the former light middleweight Kassim Ouma taste defeat in five of his previous seven bouts at the time he entered the ring against Golovkin?

• Is a bout between Jermall Charlo any worse than Golovkin’s previous bouts against unrated (i.e. not true top-ten ranked) middleweights that we saw GGG defend his word titles against, such as?

Dominic Wade
Willie Monroe Jr.
Osumanu Adama
Nobuhiro Ishida
Gabriel Rosado
Makoto Fuchigami
Lajuan Simon
Kassim Ouma
Nilson Julio Tapia
Milton Nunez

• How many legitimate (not technical) middleweight fights had Canelo, Kell Brook, Dominic Wade and Gabriel Rosado had prior to facing GGG?

• What about Abel Sanchez's other comments? Do you feel that they are reminiscent of the opponents that previously refused to consider facing GGG?
My guess is that Charlo and GGG will never fight. I think that GGG's got 3 or 4 more fights left as he's already hinted at retirement so you have the rematch with Canelo which is a given. Rematch with Jacobs. One fight against whomever holds the WBO belt sprinkled in as well so there's not much room for Charlo.

I just had a bad taste in my mouth over Charlo's fight last weekend. How THAT was a title eliminator made me laugh. Aside from the fact that the guy Charlo was fighting had a boxing style that resembled me walking out of the bar early this morning, he had one leg. Unlike you, i'm a purist fan that will never agree with undeserving "mandatory" defenses. Charlo's FIRST fight at MW is a title eliminator? Give me a break. Lemieux has been knocking guys out left and right and is 100 times more deserving.
Thank you for your genuinely intriguing reply, which I feel is partially incorrect.

I thought you were going to ignore my posts from now in?
