I agree with you greg. The other sanctioning bodies should also have same day weigh ins. Only the IBF has it. The WBC could have it for the safety of the boxers, but they care more about the safety of the female boxers who have to fight 2 minute rounds. The men can suffer and have no weight checks on the day of the fight.

I hope he is not seriously sparring with Gassiev.

Why not? Actually it wasn't long ago when Gassiev said he wasn't ready to spar with GGG yet, or something of that sort.

IMO, Jacobs fought a brilliant game. So much credit to Jacobs, and he nearly beat Golovkin. Golovkin took some damage in that fight, but I don't think it is indicative of him slipping. It's plain to see from watching the fight that Jacobs was fighting the best fight of his life.

Gassiev is nothing like Canelo. Besides, fighting a guy so much bigger could cause injuries.

First part is true, second, Sanchez used to say he'd have GGG spar Cruisers because he doesn't respect the power of smaller fighters and just walks through punches. Sparring Cruisers makes him work defense.

Working defense against much slower big men may not be so helpful. Risking an injury before your biggest payday is not so smart.

Sparring in general has risks.. I wouldn't exactly call Gassiev slow either. His hands are pretty explosive, and in that way he's similar to Canelo, but with much more power.

I don't know if Golovkin's been getting beaten up lately. It's just that instead of the usual assortment of tomato cans, he's finally been in there with better fighters who have exposed his flaws.

But I suspect that he will get beaten up on Sept. 16.

Hello. I don't post much, and don't post very often. Anyway, the Willie Monroe fight was when. I started noticing subtle decline in GGG. Not that Willie had him troubled, not with his lack of pop, but afterwards the GGG statement about purposely absorbing 4-7 punch combinations for the sake of crowd enjoyment....smells of excuses to the real.question asked: Why were u unable to impose your will tonight, in noticeable stretches of action? He is 35 and not just punching power but also his timing and hand speed are in moderate decline IMHO.

It could be the nature of the photo, but Gassiev doesn't appear to be that much bigger than Golovkin. For sure, he's "bigger", but it's not as if it's of "David versus Goliath" proportions. There's not as much difference in it size-wise as the BoxRec stats suggest.

..according to boxrec: reach - 178cm vs 193cm, height: 179 cm vs 192 cm..weight: 159lb vs 198lb ...I think it makes a hell of a lot of difference in the ring
