What I don't really understand is why posters feel the need to repeatedly say that they don't like women's boxing and don't watch it.

I watch Women's Boxing, and I don't mind ever seeing it. I don't object to watching it. I only take issue when people start talking about "This girl is Pound for Pound one of the best fighters on the planet" type talk.

Women's Boxing is seldom interesting in any way I think, but it's not ENTIRELY uninteresting.

In A boxing match, you'd favor Laila Ali or Ann Wolfe against some male fighters so why not favor them over McGregor who showed very poor balance and overall boxing ability

Can't see women's boxing gets me overly excited but fair play and good luck to her

We weren't talking about Laila Ali or Ann Wolfe were we? They're two of the more talented Female fighters I've ever seen. Those matchups would at least be competitive.

Plenty of posters do nothing but come on here and moan about men's boxing as well

I often think about interesting but unlikely match-ups, such as the world's lightest boxer fighting the world's heaviest boxer, or the world's shortest boxer fighting the world's tallest boxer.

Freak show events can be fun sometimes. I saw a 160 pound man fight a 600 pound man in Pride FC once

Incidentally the 600 pounder lost. Of course he was basically just a giant wall of blubber so being the bigger man isn't really an advantage when you're just as likely to lose by dropping dead of a heart attack as you are to lose through normal means.

I wouldn't even clear somebody THAT fat to even compete in Combat Sports personally.

Sumo maybe, but not anything that's gonna last more than a few seconds.

There's definitely an untapped market there for a pro tournament.

Not sure it would even be allowed these days. They used to allow weird freakshow, circus type fights like that in the infant days of MMA, but not now. Some of the sh*t that went on in the formative days of MMA is crazy to look back on.

For instance as Boxing fans we hear about those crazy fights in the past where guys fought 60, 70, 80 even 100 rounds right? Obviously you never see anything even close to that now.

But in MMA...in our lifetime. There's Royce Gracie vs Kazushi Sakuraba in Pride FC where they fought for An hour and a half, and the fight was scheduled to go until somebody by god won! That right there is absolutely insane, and I highly doubt it would be allowed again today. Certainly not in America. Then again it wasn't in America then either...so maybe they'd still allow something like that in Japan. You just have to be a willing participant I guess

Well it looks like this thread has gone to crap fairly quickly with the debate about womens boxing and people's view on it. I just look forward to see the reactions when Nicola Adams gets a shot at a World, whether people's views have changed on the subject of Women's boxing.

I am looking forward to seeing how Katie does and I hope she wins because she has the tools and experience to win the fight.

I think it's legit not to find it interesting. I don't find it nearly as interesting as mens boxing, but I think the push for it is a good thing, the big problem is the lack of names, so they've got to just build it up this way. It'll take time, but I think there's a reasonable chance of some good bouts in a few years.

There is going to be more of the Womens boxing on by then. Adams and Jonas will be featuring more regularly, Shields and Marshall may end up being shown too. Adams is going to be next for a shot at the World title and in turn the first British female fighter to get a World title shot, so some posters views may change or start to change come that time.

I watched one of her fights , can't remember which one , and to be honest i was impressed with her skill set , but i could just as easy watched her on the pads or the bag and said , she moves quite well , she's technickly quite good ,, But when it comes to watching her fight again Naaaw ,, not interested , WHY ... I just simply have no interest in watching women fight in fact i don't like watching women fight ,,, Naked jello wrestling , i could be tempted but women boxing , Not for me

She's great to watch, does everything right and would probably box the head off most the guys out there.

I read the first page and was left with one question....you folks have seen Cecilia Braekhus? She can box brilliantly and is in a totally different level to the likes of Shields and Taylor. By far and away the best p4p female boxing on the planet and has dominated her division to the point of silliness, rarely losing more than 2 rounds in a fight....

Yeah but they would rather not watch women fighting. Bit to much for them unless they are fighting in mud or jelly....right lads?....

I think women's boxing has been so badly run and promoted in the past. The UFC may have got lucky with Rousey but they knew how to promote her and women properly. They can draw. Interesting and cool to see UK boxing promoters try the same thing.

Take no notice of them (the non-boxers, or the put-you-to-sleep-boxers) Katie and Nicola, you carry on achieving medals, probably belts now, against the odds.

If people don't want to watch you, of course that's up to them. But never think you aren't making a difference. Because you are making a difference and you might not even know it. But you are.
