Strange career really for Degale, was always over confident and handsome horrendous showings on channel 5, using the excuse of knee injuries foe leaning against the ropes. Started to become more humble under Eddie and was gaining popularity and starting to impress and then he sold out to Haymon and took a beating from Jack. Now this poor showing and his team were clearly over confident not getting that re-match clause in. Not one for fighters leaving trainers after loses but I do think he needs to leave Jim Mc as they are too close to each other and he needs someone with fresh ideas, who's not scared to tell him home truth's. Truax is under Al Haymon too, so now it's time to see how loyal Haymon is, as with the right offer theres no way Truax would turn down a re-match. Degale can win the re-match and have maybe one more big fight which I feel he'll lose. Think we'll see him under a new trainer and have 2 fights next year then call it a day. Made up for Truax tho, he's lived a dream and now hopefully will be able to earn a decent cheque to take away from the sport.

Why no rematch clause for DeGale

Odd decision that.

The only explanation I can think of was his team were so arrogant they'd win, they didn't put one in.

This was supposed to be the fight DeGale won with ease on his return to the UK.

I remember Zab Judahs team did that when he fought Baldomir. Mind you it didn't affect him that much as he fought Mayweather 3 months later and I think he fought Cotto the end of that year.

i was very pleased that the decision went the right way, this country has handed out some stinkers to visiting challengers over the last 5 years. well done the judges. I had Traux by 3 rounds.

Degale needs to cash out if he can. He can still make good money from a eubank or groves fight. Is he smart enough to go for a cash out fight before he loses to another no name opponent?

I remember before his debut when he was giving it the big'un, I don't care if you love or hate me I'm like marmite and all that bollocks. Then he proceeded to stink the joint out and looked like he was about to burst into tears in the post fight interview where he dedicated the win to Jade Goody!

Very true and a point well made. The main reason I say British Level is because it's a way to re-establish himself with the British public and prove he still has a heart in the sport while re-building himself. Even if he decides to say that's it, he can at least go out on home soil with one of the most respected belts in the sport.

Plus his two biggest rivals Domestically (Groves / Eubanks jr.) will use this loss to avoid him as much as possible now and the same can be said if you consider an instant rematch for the IBF belt.
The WBC champion David Benavidez is still young and developing so he'd be the most likely to fight Degale next but I doubt his promoter/manager/team would risk that after he's just won the belt.
Then you have Gilberto Ramierz (WBO champion) who's already tied up with his next defence already so he's out of the question for now.

The last belt available out of the big 5 organisations is the WBA regular world title held by Tyron Zeuge who's held it for a while but I doubt Degale and his team would risk a comeback against a 25 year old with a 21-0 record.
