I've got to say, I couldn't really give two suites where a fighter is from. Very few of my favourite fighters were even from the UK. The reason I liked boxing, was that it didn't have to be partisan. I remember going to York hall and seeing a local favourite get an undeserved decision over a Hungarian import, the crowd booed their bollocks off in disgust.

Cardiff’s Henry Janes seems to have been around forever. Going through a bit of a purple patch results-wise after taking a 6 year break. Is fighting for the Welsh title next.

Yeah, cheers mate. I was trawling the web and saw there was a John Frankham Junior boxing in the early 1990s. Interesting family history. I remember watching Tommy Frankham spark a Terry Lawless prospect, Peter Bradley, back in the 1980s. He was a southpaw.
Wasn’t it Bobby Frankham that kod a ref on a televised show when he got stopped in the first round.
Yeah, Bobby crossed the line and I won't get there. He later apologised to Richie Davies.
He koed Richie Davies! Richie must’ve been well young. I need to find that vid! (Eric Guy? 🤣😂)

no its serious. good that your not a biggoted person who treats ppl better or worse simply because of what their background is. we need more of that. so much boxing arguments on forums, especially american forums, comes down to race, nationality ,etc. even a lot of the so called top writers or pundits just tow a demographic.

though im genunely curious which boxers come from a travelling background. not to be unfair but just to know. as i said theyve got their unique fighting culture and ways about the sport so just interested in which fighters are of that background. also seems a number of them are close to each other. i notice bjs, fury, and little training together for example. lee, and burton and fury related i think, gorman related to the bareknuckle legend, etc.

also its interesting to see all the talent theyve produced despite having a really small portion of the overall population. clearly theyve got a strong boxing culture.

I'm not a fan of fury; mainly because of the big gob, and silly things he says, and despite his fight with wlad being a real bore, must give the man props for confounding expectations. It's nowt to do with him being a traveller, he's just a gobshite, like bellew, and haye too. I like fighters who talk less and do it in the ring. The exceptions being froch, named and Eubanks sr, because they backed it up to the hilt.

An old thread that may be of interest. Frankie Gavin says himself, his dad was from traveller stock but he had nothing to do with him.

Tom Baker?

Don't think so.
