lets say 1 guy buys a ppv and in his large house has over 50 fight fan friends who watch it wo paying, even though several of them wouldve paid w/o the get together. is that more or less moral than 1 fight fan 'stealing' and watching a stream alone, w/o all those lost payments? .are the friends stealing?
Your posts are hard to read because you use terrible grammar. Just saying.

Regarding your question, according to the saints who never watched a stream in their lives, I suppose that would classify as stealing

Am I right in understanding that they're claiming causation and loss at £85K (laughable) and will settle at £5K with an apology?

If I am right, presumably this is a shot across the bow of people who stream?

Surely though, as streaming is illegal, a more potent message to those who stream would have been to get the police involved?

Apologies if I've missed something obvious.

The 4000+ people that watched it on his Facebook stream weren't likely to be buying it anyway.

If I buy a PPV, I'll have it bought at least on the morning of the event. The ones who watched it on Facebook will have been searching for a decent stream and simply came across this particular one.

As vidal says, this is probably a warning for those who do stream illegally on a regular basis.

Add on another £5,000.

Them 4,250 were never going to pay for it regardless.

What about those that watch it in a lounge/cafe.. Again, only 1 person is paying for it.. and hundreds are watching it.
But the way Facebook works, you'd only have to search "Anthony Joshua" and all the livestreams come up. You can't start punishing people for searching his name. Also, if you friends shares it, simply by logging in to Facebook you'll see it on your wall and that's a view. Could be me, could be you. I ain't paying no fine for that lol

While it seems ok to buy a ppv for yourself and if you are lucky enough to own a home that can fill 100 of your mates in to watch it, there is nothing anyone can do and rightly so. There isnt a term and condition that says you are only allowed to watch the ppv event yourself and not invite 100 mates around, but, is there a terms and condition that states while you are inviting around 100 mates you are not allowed to take a fiver from each of them? Would that make it legal or illegal?

Even if you are viewing a ppv event is it legal to invite your mates around but charge them a fiver each? Possibly not as you could say, if there was any legality, that you were charging each mate a fiver to go onto your property.

Streaming is a different kettle of fish. This issue is that you have bought a stream but you have no right to broadcast it through a 3rd party media service. I'm pretty sure that will be stipulated in the terms and conditions. When you buy a ppv event you are agreeing to a contract for it as well, by breaking the contract this is where you are getting into trouble.

These days there are terms and conditions for almost everything, that covers the seller and the consumer, generally its in the sellers favour.

In this case I would be very surprised if there isnt a term and condition that stipulates you are not allowed to broadcast a live stream through a 3rd party media service.

I'm sure a good portion of us would prefer to stream rather than pay, it depends on how desperate you are for a perticular event. Ive found live broadcasts for many a fight or event on FB or Twitter or by other free services available, however I know that some are not very reliable so if im wanting to watch something live that I really really want (AJ v Klit for example) I will pay for it.

Morally streaming is wrong, but so is loads of things in my 24 hour day so im not losing sleep if a boxer or any other sportsman is not getting £20m but £18m because a small selection has got in free.

Businesses pay a lot more to show PPV's.

Get the Police involved ? Steady on mate, I know what Eddie and Sky are up to is well dodgy but I'm not sure we could send round the Police just yet

Think i would take the attitude , no police , no crime , You can't just say to someone , you committed a crime give us some money , whats the crime , whats the charge , whens the court date , and lets see what the judge tells me to pay ,,, Just chest beating and bullying ,
Think i might send Eddie a demand note to repay all the money that people will have to pay extra for tickets at the next AJ fight through stub hub , After all can't see where they get tickets from without his knoledge
