I always chuckle at this phrase. As if being a fat bastard's not bad enough, we love to put the boot in and call it morbid! A tautology like calling a bald man a stark slaphead.
Thomas is an ideal opponent for Joyce at this point. Very limited, but with a bit of ambition.
Thomas looked like he trained well. Very buff at the weigh in. Say what you want about him, last 3 fights he has looked fit and ready. At least he is giving it a go eh?

It's funny you pointed that out. As we get closer to the fight, I'm not so sure that Thomas won't give Joyce fits. Hmmm...

If Lenroy's chin holds up, he can give Joyce a lot of experience. I don't have an opinion of Joe yet. I haven't seen enough of him as a pro to know what to think. I know a lot of posters on here give him a lot of props, I'm on the fence. Lenroy has some nice eye catching combinations and this second half of his career shows a lot of improvements. It is one of the fights I'm looking forward to on the card. I sort of hope Joyce hangs in there past 5 rounds, without blasting Thomas out, to see how he does in the pro game.

Agreed. Better get to know Joyce fast, he's not getting any younger.
Not really sure what to make of Joyce after that one, slow, predictable and his timing was way off, you'd never believe he was an amateur stand out but 2nd round KO over Thomas in his 4th fight is decent going, all the knockdowns were class, not very often you see a HW decked by a bodyshot but that was a sore looking left hook Joyce put him down in the 1st with
Joyce was wild as fvck in that 2nd but he was relentless, I don't care how good his engine is , if he carries on like that up a level he will gas eventually, he did score 2 nice KDs in the 2nd, the finishing left hook especially was a cracker, I wasn't sure what happened initially but it terrific shot which put Thomas down for the count
Maybe Joyce just decided to steamroll Thomas from the off

He looked too careless and wild. Yes, he kinda crushed a decent journeyman, but that display shouldn't be repeated on the higher level.
thomas has crumpled under pressure before, he doesnt like the heat at all and joyce gave it to him, wouldnt surprise me if the plan was to just go out like that. not like thomas is some vaunted puncher to keep him cautious either

Was coming on to post about this fight but you've written exactly what I was going to even down to not initially realising what was going on at the very end.
Pub I was in turned it on at the end of the first. So saw a replay of first knock down but was wondering if Joyce had been hurt the way he was fighting did not look like a too amateur to me.

I think Joyce just wanted to blitz poor Lenroy as it was his first go on a 'big' card.
Will be interesting to see what Joyce does next IMO.... Not just opponent wise but behind the scenes... Does he stay with Hayemaker promotions? Will Ismael Salas stick around? etc
You would think that he'd stay with Haye as he's gotten him a Commonwealth title in his 4th fight. Don't see any reason for Joyce to look anywhere else.

Joyce isn’t picking up too many tricks now. He just needs to keep busy, take step ups and keep up his fitness and desire.
He should be trying to get out again ASAP, it’s not like he really exerted himself Saturday night. He’d have 2/3 of them fights in a week in an amateur competition.
Get a quick one set up for Allen then target the British after the white rhino has dealt with. The problem there is Hughie, who possibly shouldn’t be operating at that level, but he might vacate. I think it’s a right both camps will be a tad wary of right now.

Hooold it, you think Hughie should be boxing higher than British title level?
I like that Hughie is going for the zbritish and it’ll serve him well no doubt, but in theory, he gave Oarker all kinds of troubles and can be considered as above British level as it stands.
