That's come around quick - I remember there was a bit of a debate / discussion if DeGale had a rematch clause - but its been negotatied pretty quickly. Perhaps a bit too quickly for deGale.

DeGale going to come unstuck again imo

On pedigree and boxing skills then DeGale should take this on points.

But then there’s the question marks. He’s clearly not 100% healthy. His shoulder hasn’t healed and can a 75% fit JDG beat Truax?
He’s on the slide. Been getting hit far too frequently over the last couple of years.
He’s brought Malinaggi in to help slow him down. Last thing he needs is slowing down.

Someone mentioned the Jack fight before. The 750k he got for that is good money.
DeGale-Jack isn’t a UK PPV fight and you don’t get 750k being a non-Heavyweight on a domestic undercard.
Haymon fighters get paid very well but not promoted or marketed well.
Lessens the options when they lose or the wheels fall off.

Am.I right in.thinking the days of haymon paying out megabucks are well and truly gone ? Is PBC still going ?

I first came across James Degale as a young lad. His very good coach Mick Delaney has always been someone who’s words I had huge respect for. He used to talk about a new boxer he had that was going to be a champion. James’ first bout was against another v decent young lad who had started with me, Ben Callum.

He beat Ben in a good fight and I then got to know James better as I turned up to help train the kids at Dale Youth. During my time there I learned a lot from Mick Delaney & Ernie Harris. A lot of what they passed on to me will stay with me for life and hopefully one day I’ll Pass some of it on to next generations.

Anyway James did become a champion, eventually winning an Olympic Games Gold Medal and becoming a world champion.

Tonight he makes an attempt to regain the IBF World Super-Middleweight Title in Las Vegas.
