It's like Cleverley's base purse vs. Badou Jack was $100k according to the NSAC.. But he received maybe around £800k more as the fight/event was on Box Office in the UK. Jack made around $800k.mickey1975 wrote: ↑27 May 2018, 04:09 Sky will have broken the bank for that and Eddie won't have taken a penny....

I’m sure Eddie would have taken a cut - there’s nothing wrong with that. He runs a business and is in to make money.mickey1975 wrote: ↑27 May 2018, 04:09Sky will have broken the bank for that and Eddie won't have taken a penny....Taansend wrote: ↑27 May 2018, 04:04Mickey is a little bit obsessed.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑27 May 2018, 03:37

Thanks for the round by round.
I’m sure FW would have taken a cut when Smith fought Canelo, BJS fought Lemieux etc.
Kal would have earned at least double the $40k including the Sky payment.

Mick - serious question. Has Eddie Hearn done something to personally upset you?
I mean - his fighters broadly seem to rate him. I can't recall him ending up in court time and again. Or being repeatedly accused of withholding funds, dissolving companies and so on. I mean - slagging him off for doing what every promoter does, namely taking a cut, is desperate stuff.

Yes, not personally, but when he’s hypnotised normally rationally thinking people into watching Okilie-Chamberlain rather than Gassiev in the semis I could weep for the sport. And when people like you justify Ottke ducking Wilder just because he can sell against virtually anyone it just shows he can do what he wants and the sheep will follow. You said my strong point isn’t economics, as Broner turned down the deal to earn 1m less. Ottke is turning down a GUARANTEED $80m two fight deal to earn what? You’re the economist, explain....dirk2686 wrote: ↑27 May 2018, 06:30 Mick - serious question. Has Eddie Hearn done something to personally upset you?

I know that. I'm not saying Yafai made any more than $100k. It's just saying, when a UK based fighter, who is promoted in the UK fights in US, the commissions will always show a low purse. But guaranteed, they always get more than that.mickey1975 wrote: ↑27 May 2018, 05:40Slight difference to Mayweather-McGregor, mate.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑27 May 2018, 04:26It's like Cleverley's base purse vs. Badou Jack was $100k according to the NSAC.. He’s a promoter. The fact he had people watching Okolie v Chamberlain (and sold 8k tickets) rather than the Gassiev fight purely demonstrates he’s good at his job.mickey1975 wrote: ↑27 May 2018, 07:20Yes, not personally, but when he’s hypnotised normally rationally thinking people into watching Okilie-Chamberlain rather than Gassiev in the semis I could weep for the sport. What do you expect him to do? If he didn’t push the show and they did 2k tickets then he’d be slated (probably by yourself) for how poor the show sold.
I really don’t get all of your recent Ottke comparisons to AJ. Is it purely to get a rise from Dirk? Ottke spent his career fighting at home, getting gift decisions against, for the most part, poor opposition. AJ’s last 3 opponents have been good fighters and have sold very well and he’s clearly trying to unify. I don’t think AJ or Wilder are scared of anyone so before judging I’ll wait to see what gets announced.
With regards to the 50m offer, the devil’s in the detail. The first offer of 50m, all Wilder had had was a number. There now seems to be proof of funds but I’m almost certain AJ will still want things to be in place for him to accept (Sky Sports showing it in the U.K., details for a potential rematch etc.).

We know AJ was ahead on the cards against Wlad, got two gifts in 2012 and they’re the only competitive fights he has had in London. Parker too wide, too.
Re: Kal Yafai vs. David Carmona - 26 May 2018
AJ outlander Wlad in each of the first four rounds then could have been given a 10-8. No real surprise that he could have been ahead and hardly a gift. Certainly not as farcical as your beloved getting the nod over John McDermott.mickey1975 wrote: ↑27 May 2018, 08:47 We know AJ was ahead on the cards against Wlad, got two gifts in 2012 and they’re the only competitive fights he has had in London. And that makes him Sven Ottke?!mickey1975 wrote: ↑27 May 2018, 08:47 We know AJ was ahead on the cards against Wlad, got two gifts in 2012 and they’re the only competitive fights he has had in London. Parker too wide, too.
Most British fighters get favourable decisions. He shouldn’t have beaten Savon in the Olympics and whilst his fight with Camarelle was close, I had him losing but that’s just the way our sport is unfortunately. I don’t hold that against AJ. I thought he was unlucky to lose the 2011 world championship final against Majidov.
I had the fight against Klitschko closer than the judges (I had it even at the start of the end of the 10th)but there were several close rounds (particularly early) that could have gone either way. I didn’t have much issue with the Parker. Could have maybe given Parker 1 or 2 more but that’s it.
There are few British fighters that haven’t had fights scored favourably for them. Fury in his first fight with McDermott, Bellew’s had close decisions go in his favour and so have many others.
AJ fought a poor champion in his 16th fight, a dodgy unification against Klitschko in his 19th fight and a proper unification in his 21st.
Ottke had 16 title defences, with the bulk against poor opponents, before trying to unify.
There’s a big difference!
Re: Kal Yafai vs. David Carmona - 26 May 2018
Fury got a gift against McDermott that was far more obvious than anything that has happened to Joshua. He also benefitted from an absolutely farcical stoppage against Pajkic. Swings and roundabouts but you'll clearly have nothing bad to say about the love of your life. (I'm referring to Fury here by the way, just for clarity. Not Tennents Super and methylated spirits.)

You are a tad over the top when it comes to those two. Makes you seem a bit bitter, mate.

Mickey can be abrasive and obviously has tunnel vision on certain issues and certain fighters but I've never seen him get personal to that extent. I'm not saying he's not. Personally, I've had addiction issues which I've spoken about on here over the years and it's a hard thing to have to go through. Not just the addiction but the underlying reasons behind it. I just feel it's a low low blow to persistently drag up the guys demons and use it as a cheap dig. It's classless. Name calling and verbal ping pong is one thing but when things start getting personal they start getting nasty..... It shows a lack of imagination and wit.....

He is a troll though. How can he not be? You don't really believe all that stuff he comes out with do you?
I don't mean 'Fury destroys Joshua when he wants.' That's fine - it's just an opinion. But all his obvious nonsense about an arena standing up and leaving when Joshua came in, Joshua only doing 1.5m PPV because the British public wanted to see how much Wlad had left and so on. It's so obviously ridiculous that what is it? An abstract joke? Satire? Or just trolling to get a rise? He then got one when I took the piss suggesting he was back on the bottle and he burst into tears.

Exactly. Talk boxing and debate. If things get heated then fire a few daft insults or throwaway comments. Wind someone up if you like! Most of us find that funny and like a laugh. There's no need to get personal.Taansend wrote: ↑27 May 2018, 13:43He has some weird thing about Joshua & Hearn. Makes him look a bit obsessed. But that's up to him. If a guy airs his dirty laundry and skeletons on here then it's either a drunken mistake or a cry for help. I've been guilty of it. Vulchers that use that as leverage in petty arguments lack wit......
