He is in a unique situation. 33 y/o; 4 fights; some pretty good talent. He has around 1.5 0 2 years to make a move IMHO. He has a fight or two to make a defining statement.

Joyce is in a weird position really, he isn't ready for the fringe contenders by a long shot, Whyte,chisora, h.fury etc would probably be a step to far in his 5th fight. I don't know where he should go though.

For some reason I wouldn't mind Joyce taking on Hughie Fury at this stage. Not a lot of danger with Hughie for KO, but good enough to really test Joyce.

Would love to see some consolidation of top 20 to allow up and comers to move on up and step it up. (Joyce: Kabayel; Schwarz; Milas; Ajagba and Dubois...even Hrgovic).

Pete Radamacher (sp?)!!!!! LOLOLOLOL!!!!

Duhaupas is a good shout - world title challenger and mid-level European fighter. Follow that up with Helenius, Wach then Kayabel and he'd be ready for a shot at the big beasts (if he makes it through). He is starting way too late to do it the old-fashioned way if he wants to get to the top, but the WSB experience does make a big difference and is probably why he's been able to step up (relatively) quickly.

Ortiz, recently. Audley Harrison. Neither managed to make a real success. Maybe they didn't have the ability anyway, who knows. I am not sure what examples you want me to give you of people who failed to make it; there could always be other reasons for their failure. But you need to find an example of someone who turned pro late and by 33 hadn't fought anyone any good yet, and went on to be a real success if you want to make an assertion that it is possible. The fact that something hasn't been done doesn't prove it's impossible, of course - it just leans that way.

The fact remains, and Ortiz is a prime example, that top-level fights take a long time to make, and if you haven't got yourself into the top level mix by around 35 the chances are very strong that you're going to be past it before you manage to do anything. Again, happy to see an example that disproves it.

Joyce getting labelled inexperienced is amazing. The guy was a top am for a long time, and the Wsb is a far higher quality than a lot of pro bouts. The only thing he is lacking is rounds.

He picked the wrong promotional backing though to be moved at the pace he wants. Unless Haye can work with Eddie again he can't afford the fights. Joyce should have been screaming for all of hearns hw stable, but he can't talk for toffee. Dave could do it for him but it doesn't have the same affect.

Amateur boxing is waaaaaay different than the pros. I agree he had a lot of amateur experience, but it is not as grueling as professional based on rounds alone. He is an Older Prospect right now and nothing more.

pros and ams are different, but joyces am experience plus his wsb experience means he can move far faster then usual. and he should be given his age.

im not talking about a world class or even fringe world class next, but i think he should be fighting at decent euro level at some point in the next year

Agreed to a point. He still needs 12 months to a year to contend for a title at the very least. Needs to be busy and taking steps up.
