I know he is still relatively slow, but was I the only one who thought Joyce showed a real improvement in his handspeed tonight, compared to his first fight and Olympic days? Didn't get much chance to demonstrate it I guess but he looked faster to me anyway.
Ive never thought he was as slow as people make out. Or as bad either to be fair. He's a decent boxer, athletic and has a smashing workrate. Folk on here rate DelBoy and I think there's a reason Del hasn't taken that fight!

Michael Page really is a muppet, and yes as jamamb said, no matter how good Joyce is he'll always be criticised for his style.

Joyce is slow.
Wait until he faces someone with a bit of hand and foot speed. Usyk was running rings around him. No one so far in his pro fights has shown it yet.

Usyk was in the ams. That's a different game. Im not saying he wouldn't take him but Joyce is trying to take on the best and deserves a bit of respect I reckon! The guys trying and he wants it!

For sure there are plenty of good fan friendly fights out there for Joyce. Usyk was in a super series 5 round final.

reading joyce rbr threads its sure what youd be led to think
but yet he also shouldve won an olympic gold medal and so far hes beaten everyone hes faced more comprehensively then anyone else has. and theres some good opposition his opponents have faced
i dont think hes any great shakes but i think he clearly has something. defo one for the better then he looks thread imo

I've said it before but there is some kind of optical illusion brought about by the way JJ moves.
I agree that he LOOKS like he is moving slowly, but watch any of his fights so far and only watch the opponent.
The opponents all move at 'normal speed' but still get hit.
Joyce is in a great position at this early stage.

Was awful.
Obviously short notice opponent for Joyce was always going to be difficult though. Haye was saying after they had ten others lined up but they didn’t want it.
He might have to get the chequebook out to secure Joyce the fights he is after. Meaty Mick was ringside last night...British title fight v Hughie would be good.

I quite like Joyce, he has his flaws but he also has a few skills that other top HWs might not have, mainly a solid engine with the abilty to keep throwing his hands, it will be interesting to see if he steps up to world level, taking a lot of clean shots for a few rounds before riding the storm and taking things into the second half and walking guys down, will guys wilt??

This is boxing, people always pull out, finding a half decent heavy at 24 hours notice would be nearly impossible.
The problem here is having the likes of Joyce, as with Audley, headlining live terrestrial tv shows in learning fights.
The channel should demand some thing like a British title fight with Joyce as a support.

This is what happens when you try and rush a fighter, joyce is commonwealth champion but is to inexperienced to fight anyone of of note, there are good fighters in this country for him to fight, Nathan Gorman would be a good start, I just hope Haye doesn't mess Joyce's career up because as soon as Joyce gets beat that's it for him,

I think Haye's doing the best he can for Joyce and has kept him very active with 4 fights for him so far this year including the Commonwealth title. Good fighters aren't going to risk their careers against 5 fight novices unless it's for absolutely ridiculous money but Haye is trying hard and hopefully nail a decentish opponent next. Price, Webb or Cornish would be good next for Joyce.

Its ok to say hes being kept active but what is he learning inside the ring? Last night the geezer took a dive, those punches were nothing and didnt hit anything to knock the opponent down.
Hes not learning anything by feeding him shite like that. What can joyce possibly learn in less than 2 minutes inside the ring with knock overs than he didnt learn 5 minutes before?
Joyce has a weird style of boxing, its almost like im pissed and everything is in slow lethargic motion. Fighting like he does maybe ok last night but he will suffer in the long run by meeting a eastern european who has something left in the basement.

So what he's had 4 fights ? He's commonwealth champion. He should be world ranked ? To me he's devaluing the title, he shouldn't be aloud to fight that standard of opponent, ? He's ranked 12 in the commonwealth but is the champion what does that tell you ?

I dont think hes crap. Hes done great for the amateurs, but so has Audley Harrison. I dont think hes a great pro boxer and he shouldnt be either after 5 fights. The issue is, how many boxers fight for commonwealth titles after 4 fights? Its a sign of the times at this level in heavyweight boxing. Joyce shouldnt be fighting for area level yet, yes hes possibly better than area level in 2018.
I just dont see how he can progress into a great world class boxer facing the kind of guys he did last night. Im saying this because he is being fast tracked but you are not going to learn shite all from last night. He needs decent opponents if they are fast tracking him to places, but saying that, hes not going to be ready for the likes of AJ after say 10 fights.
