Sam Maxwell Added To Warrington-Frampton Card

Sam Maxwell has been given a return date after his summer outing in Belfast.

The 30-year-old scored a stoppage win over Chris Truman at Windsor Park back in August.

Maxwell, a Commonwealth Games bronze medallist, is currently 9-0 with seven early finishes.



And he will look to add to the ledger when he comes back before Christmas at Manchester Arena.

‘Super’ Sam has been confirmed as an addition to a world title undercard that will be live on pay-per-view.

Maxwell is set to box on December 22, exclusively live on BT Sport Box Office, as part of the supporting cast to Carl Frampton’s IBF featherweight title challenge against Josh Warrington.

He will be joined by his Danny Vaughan-trained gym-mate Paddy Barnes on the card, that will also feature James Metcalf’s WBC International super-welterweight title defence against Liam Williams, as he returns from August’s WBC flyweight world title defeat at the hands of Nicaragua’s Cristofer Rosales.

Mick Conlan will box on the bill with Mark Heffron challenging an opponent to be confirmed for the vacant British middleweight title and there is action for undefeated light-heavyweight Steven Ward, heavyweight Alex Dickinson, cruiserweight Jack Massey and Tommy Fury, the brother of former world heavyweight champion Tyson, who will make his debut.

Now that Whyte vs. Chisora has been announced. You can expect this fight to start after 11pm.

Frank did the same with Frampton vs. Donaire. It started just after Khan-Lo Greco finished.

But then again, these 2 fights are on PPV. No one is going to be shelling out £40 for 2 ppv’s 3 days before Christmas.

With the Matchroom card being PPV it wouldn't surprise me either Frampton - Warrington pick up an injury and it gets delayed till early next year as the PPV sales will take a big shit.

Normally us boxing fans are pissed when 2 cards clash. Cards on a regular Sky or regular BT or an odd Channel 5 show or even the WBSS.. but this is outrageous. 2 PPV cards in the UK on the same date.

Some people might have already ordered the BT card if that’s possible. Not sure about refunds.

I think Hearn is sour because Frampton signed with FW and not him..

Same thing happened with Khan-Lo Greco. With all the water throwing etc. It's always Hearn booking the dats that FW has already booked.

He thinks the fight will hurt FW's card, but in reality it will hurt his card just as much.

This was never a casuals fight. All Northern Ireland and Leeds fans will buy, though. And there are loads of them around. The arena is nearly sold out, I think it will go ahead.

If I was Frampton or Warrington and I thought this Sky business might take a couple of hundred gs off my purse I wouldn’t be happy. If I was the promoter and I thought it might take half a mill off me I wouldn’t be happy, especially as this is the first PPV that he will have benefited from in ages.

If Fury loses then the Frampton v Warrington winner is their only PPV fighter, and after Warrington who does he fight on a PPV that does good numbers? Matchroom we all know will do 5 PPVs next year or so.

If I was the promoter of Frampton v Warrington I’d bite the bullet, pull it and move it to late Feb or March and take the bigger number of buys then. Even if the Sky bill takes just 100k buys off them then that’s about a million Quid down the pan if we assume the promoter gets half the PPV buy and half goes to the broadcaster.

Hearn has cards (between the U.K. and US) most weekends so there are always going to be clashes unfortunately with either BT, channel 5 or WBSS.

This is the first one where I think he’s actively gone after a competitor show to damage it. Despite Warrington vs Frankton being a great fight it wouldn’t surprise me if Chisora vs Whyte did over double the PPV buys.

I was expecting Frampton vs Warrington to be a fairly quick sell out but surprisingly there are still tickets available in most/all pricing brackets - I had an email from the Arena a few days ago pushing tickets.

To be fair the ticket prices are quite dear. They’ll do well at the gate regardless. It’s sold well.

Different between FW and Hearn is, i’ve never noticed FW do the same and put a show on the same weekend that Hearn has a show on.

Worse thing is. It’s not regular Sky vs. regular BT. It’s PPV vs. PPV. Fighters will still be paid couple million. The losers are the boxing fans. I wanted to enjoy Frampton’s fight. But i am tempted by the Matchroom fight. I hope the main events don’t clash.
