Usyk is still slightly favored to win this bout by KO, and I agree.

The drop to cruiser will seriously impact Bellew, despite what naysayers insist.

Though Usyk should win this easily. Never count out any fighter. There is always a chance for any fighter.

Injury, off night or lucky punch.

it would be a big help for bellew to have an early moment that really spurs him on and gives him more energy and confidence for the rest of the fight.

hes too good imo to be totally written off. maybe theres a lucky shot, and maybe he can muster the type of bursts a few times a round that really dont score but get the crowd roaring and bias the judges.

but usyk rightfully considered the guy who should win. fewer things have to fall into place for usyk then they do bellew

100% true. The stars really have to align for a Bellew win

Looks like he’s filming a scene for The Godfather IV.

The proper thread should be : Usyk vs. Bellew & the judges

Considering he got a lopsided decision in Russia. If he dominates rounds, at least 9 or 10 rounds like he did vs. Gassiev. he should win clearly on the cards.

I do think it will go to the scorecards.

It will be so one-sided (a shutout is realistic) that the judges will have no choice but to score on the level.

And won't these be international, not British, judges?

But I think Usyk wins by KO anyway, so the judges cards will be academic.

Besides Usyk is a Matchroom fighter now. Doesn't that make him honorary British?

Referee is Terry O’Connor!

Yeh I suppose Hearn will want Usyk to remain unbeaten before he fights AJ.

Bellew is a good judge of his opposition, and the way he readily agreed to this suggests high confidence levels. A bit like Fury, his personality also tends to draw attention away from a keen boxing brain.

I wasn't convinced by Usyk's performance against Gassiev. I thought it was more of a case of Abel Sanchez found tactically wanting once more.

Bellew has decent power and moves well. He also seems to thrive on success, so if he can land early it could become a nightmare for Usyk.

If this was at heavyweight I'd have Bellew clear favourite, but as it is I expect Usyk to win the boxing match but lose the fight.

The judges will probably have to decide the winner on Saturday.

Is Bellew (at CW) better puncher than Gassiev ? I am not sure, but he has a very slim chance to hurt (and KO) Usyk, and much better chance to win by robbery.

Whoever wins this fight is fighter of the year for me, if it is legit.

Usyk will be fighter of the year. :OhYes:

You were not “convinced by Usyk’s performance against Gassiev?” How about Briedis, and Huck and Hunter?

Those are the four fighters that Usyk has defeated in the time that Bellew has faced an injured and then triggerless Haye. Were you convinced by those performances?

I really like Bellew but he is in deep against Usyk. Extraordinarily deep.

if you werent convinced by usyk vs gassiev, when has bellew ever convinced you?

also just stop with this 'bellew at hw ' stuff, hes naturally no bigger then usyk and has been flabbier at the same weight. bellew fought for years at 175, hes not some hulking cruiser squeezing into the 200 pound limit

Right. he just got quite fat after haye2, close to 240 at his "best" & had to loose the flab quite fast, surely no performance enhancing procedure as he never was that heavy before in his career.

It would be so fvcking amazing if he somehow pulls it really of in a legit way. I don't even want to think about a scenario involving crooked ref & judges & shit, it would be too embarrassing for an event of that magnitude. Not that we wouldn't be used to corrupt shit of the grandest scale, i'm just so fuckin sick of it.

I'm no historian and of course it's purely hypothetical but if bellew really should knock usyk out against all odds it would be one of the most amazing accomplishments & biggest upsets in... fvcking boxing history. What would be comparable to it?
Schmeling knocking out louis? Clay whooping liston? Ali/Foreman? Spinks beating Ali? Douglas/Tyson? Or am i reaching here? They were all masterful boxers still nobody gave em a chance facing those near mythical monsters, bellew isn't considered... whatever...yeah, my question is: to what sensational upset in history could it be compared, what would it mean for his legacy if bellew puts away usyk?

Usyk is currently about a 1-9 favorite, so it wouldn't be up there as one of the biggest upsets ever.

Although I think that Usyk should be about 1-50. The talent gap is huge. And Bellew will also suffer the consequences of dropping to cruiser.

And don't forget Randall over Chavez. Unbeaten JCC went in a 1-17 favorite.

I amazed that there's already so much paranoia about a possible robbery on Saturday night.

First of all this is Manchester, not Las Vegas.
Secondly if Usyk is so vastly superior to Bellew, why worry?

Oh I get it, Mauricio Sulaiman's getting involved!

Now we should all worry.
