Yep I said before hand that GGG would need 9 rounds, and at least 1 knockdown to win. I knew the likelihood of him getting the nod was extremely slim with anything less.
Everybody knew that except Team GGG it seems. The decision to box was too naive even though technically it worked. If Golovkin really wanted to keep his belts, he should have stood and traded with Canelo.
I mean I don't really know how he could've fought a better fight honestly. I think he did as well as he could. You can't just throw bombs all night willy nilly. It's not like Canelo is a heavy bag. He's moving, and punching back himself. You gotta do something to do defend yourself, and set up your offense.
I thought Golovkin won, but he'd win need to win OVERWHELMINGLY convincing in order to get the decision against Canelo, and it just doesn't seem he can.
Which is BS. You shouldn't have to beat a guy by multiple rounds to deserve the victory. If you win 7 rounds or 8 you deserve the nod, but apparently that ain't good enough when you're up against the promoters baby
Do you think Ggg did better this time? He was outboxed and gassed imo. Fair enough though hes 37 vs a lightning quick counter puncher in his prime.
In fight 1 triple G forced the pace and bullied Canelo.

I didn't necessarily think he did better this time, but I wound up with the same score in the end. The rounds were closer, and more debatable this time around though. Much more of an action fight than the 1st fight between them. I ultimately wound up with a 116-112 score in both fights, but this one felt closer than the 1st one was there was a lot more trading. Like you say GGG was pushing the pace the 1st fight. This time you were splitting hairs in each round.
I'll bet if you looked at everybody's scorecards even the people that agree they had GGG winning would probably have given him different rounds on the way to scoring it that way. It was that kinda fight.
Was a very close fight with close rounds going to Canelo. No complaint with the winner of this compared to the 1st match. Close and debatable but not a robbery.
i dont think canelo deserved the win......he didnt do enough to rip the title from g's grasp. g finished stronger, clearly landed more punches, was never hurt or in trouble....so how can he lose his title? the third fight should be held in kazakstan, with some eastern european judges......anyone think canelo would win then......not a fukkin chance.
max lederman should be sacked. "canelo is winning the story of the fight" whilst getting his face jabbed off....unbelievable.
g should just do a hagler and fukk boxing......another great champion who got well and truly treated like shite in the twilight of his career.
Max Kellerman is a good guy, but you know what happens to the good when it comes to Las Vegas. I'm staying clear of any future Vegas fights, except possibly outside the heavyweight division (where the higher knockout rate gives the non-house fighter a chance).
Las Vegas is not only the Mecca of the biggest money fights, it's also the Mecca of exploiting human frailty with a crooked smile.
"Canelo is winning the story of the fight" Indeed. Well done Max!

This is just it.. You're supposed to really TAKE THE TITLE off the champion.. Don't think Canelo really did that.
Once again, overwhelming majority thought Golovkin won the fight. He did. It was ridiculous how much gloves arms and air Canelo hit most of the night. He expectedly got undue credit, it comes in all forms and times para la diva. Exactly what people said, happened. If he was standing after 12 he is absolutely getting it. All that was needed was close rounds or a reasonably close fight which it was. It has to feel bad as a fan knowing financial influence helps your fighter constantly and everyone knows it.
