Kov's new trainer Buddy McGirt could be the wild card in this matchup. He may have Kovalev fighting a very cautious fight and have him avoid engaging in slugouts with Alvarez. That's how Chiquita Gonzalez was able to avenge his KO loss to Michael Carbajal back in the day. That could be the best strategy for Sergei to win, but I'm pulling for Eleider to repeat his great KO win of last August!!

Close call in this fight, both looked in good shape at the weigh in.

I have no doubts that Gvozdyk, Bivol and Beterbiev would beat Kovalev now. Alvarez is not that good, so I expect a close fight going the distance.

Kovalev would probably knock out beterbiev. He's not that good, just an enormous puncher. I was going to bet on Smith.

Gvozdyk and Bivol - very likely, but Beter will lose. Actually Alvarez looked better, than Beter.

Eleider Alvarez will likely win this bout due to a combination of his hand speed, being fresher and also possessing superior conditioning.
Sergey will be dangerous early and perhaps build a fairly big lead on the judges’ scorecards during the first half of the bout. The Russian might even hurt or floor the champion at some point in time during the contest.
However, Alvarez knows he has the power to hurt Kovalev and I feel he’ll gain ownership of the winning momentum of the fight from round six onwards, which is when I’d expect Krusher to start fading, with Eleider inevitably emerging victorious by scoring a late stoppage.
That being said, Sergey Kovalev is capable of scoring an upset! But he’d need to actually listen to his new trainer, Buddy McGirt, make a few small adjustments, box smarter and safer, then this might be his last hurrah, meaning that the Krusher is certainly capable of winning this fight by decision, but he’d have to manage his stamina levels carefully in order to accomplish this remarkable feat. I just think that Sergey to too set in his ways to make these necessary changes, but I could be wrong.

Andre Ward will be in Sergey Kovalev’s line of sight Saturday night.
Ward will be as close to the ring for Kovalev’s immediate rematch with Eleider Alvarez as possible without actually standing in it. BS.com has learned Ward will move from his usual position during ESPN telecasts – at an elevated desk, away from the ring – to ringside to call the Alvarez-Kovalev fight from ringside.
Ward will join Joe Tessitore, ESPN’s blow-by-blow announcer, and fellow former champion Timothy Bradley to provide expert analysis of the second bout between Alvarez and Kovalev. Essentially, Ward will switch seats with regular ESPN commentator Mark Kriegel for the Alvarez-Kovalev rematch to make best use of Ward’s personal experience with Kovalev.

For Alvarez-Kovalev, which will headline the card the referee will be Luis Pabon, from Puerto Rico.
Levi Martinez (New Mexico), Lisa Giampa (Nevada), and Jesse Reyes (Texas), were appointed judges for the bout. The WBO Supervisor will be WBO President Francisco "Paco" Valcárcel, Esq.
Sounds like all of them speak Spanish and none speaks Russian

Has a Boxer ever won a big fight while dealing with heavy outside of the ring trouble? Maybe Mike did it early but this fight is looking all wrong for Kov. These scenarios never work out for the troubled fighter. Couple that with this fighter being on his last legs, history says no.
With that said, if you’re in Vegas then bet exactly against me because I haven’t picked a fight correctly since Ali/ Liston.
