This will be DeGale’s first fight with a fellow countryman since his loss to George Groves in 2011. A showdown with Carl Froch eluded him but now he wants to take on his British rivals. “Benn and Eubank they had those classics and everyone talks about it to this day. That’s what I need," DeGale has told Boxing News. “They’re the fights I want, the domestic grudge matches, that everyone buys into, that everyone wants to see. They’re the ones.”

He landed some decent offence, apart from the wild swings. He was never going to win like that. Some of the cleaner shots did push Groves back a little, but CEJ didn't follow on from those appropriately.

DeGale alluded to having over trained in a recent interview with SecondsOut and said he's training smarter now. Fingers crossed he's right because I don't think I could cope with Eubank beating him.

Chunky is miles ahead in terms of natural ability and boxing skills. If his body is at even 80% he should deal with Eubank comfortably. My worry is that he has such little respect for Eubank's boxing skills - similarly to how, by his own admission, he had no respect for Truax's ability - that he believes he can win the fight at considerably less than 80% and then gets outworked.

James DeGale has already fired off an opening shot in the direction of his opponent. He said: “Really excited and looking forward to being back home to a fight of this magnitude.

“I believe Eubank doesn’t have the pedigree, the size and skill to beat me. Eubank is a decent fighter but every time he has stepped up he has been found out.

"He has called my name for a long time so now I’ve finally got my chance to zip his lips.”

Eubank Jr responded in kind, saying: “DeGale is going to get the schooling of his career. A good old-fashioned hiding.”

Eubank Jr. reveals training

Eubank Jr. said, "I have a new team around me. I haven't really had an official trainer.

"Ronnie Davies has been by my side but hasn't trained me, he's been more overseeing things. I have trained myself.

"For this it will be different. I have been working with a guy called Nate Vasquez from Las Vegas. He has been living with me. It is good to have a solid guy there who is with me 24-7, working with me on specifics rather than me going through the motions."

Interesting fight but shouldn't be PPV. Edging towards Degale unless he is totally shot. Much the better skill set and bigger at the weight also. I see he is a slight underdog as well so I'll be backing him, as I did Groves when he fought Eubank Jnr.

Considering the names, it's as much as a PPV as Whyte-Chisora II and Warrington-Frampton..

However..... If you look at their last year in the sport, the fight itself, right now, shouldn't be a PPV..

Am I going tow watch it? Yes..

I believe it's the same date as BT's Bowen vs. Clark.

I'm just getting sick and tired of the huge number of PPVs. There is basically one a month now and Virgin is expensive enough as it is so I'm going to pick and choose this year rather than buy them all like I used to.

Mate, you've got to hand it to Eubank Jr.

It takes pretty specialist bellendery to come across as more of a knobhead than DeGale, but he somehow manages it.

I hope he loses again.

I wonder if this 'change' in training approach will stick. Ewbanks and his idiot father are the strangest couple I've ever seen in boxing. If Ewbanks has someone (anyone) who he'll listen to and actually learn from, it could really make a huge difference in his performance. Big 'if' in my opinion.

For CEJ's sake, I hope you are right. Old habits are hard to break.

I just can't see how this current Degale will keep Jnr off him for 12 rounds, his Jab seems to be a 3 round weapon at most now and then he starts to pull it and hold back with it presumably due to the injury. The lazy periods as well could even see him stopped around 7 or 8 for me.

Eubank still does and will always, leave something to be desired and there would have been such room for improvement if he had been handled differently but he just has too much for this version of Chunky in my book.

If Eubank Jr has gotten rid of his dad, it's about bloody time.

If it's a new version then he'll clean up no worries

Another O2 card clashing with a Warren show. As for the Eubank card, probably be a close fight on the cards.

Just seen the IBO confirm that this is for their World Championship.
I buy most PPVs but I won't be watching this one.
