Stylewise I think Barry makes it a stinker of a fight
I was actually thinking this, but then thought, it’s his first world title shot.. he must give it a go.

Fair enough, Galahad deserves his shot.

A bit like Johnny Nelson did with his first shot ? Seriously though I think there hasn’t been enough momentum in Barry’s career to prepare him for Warrington, could still make it awkward though

So FW offered $1.67m for the fight whilst Hearn offered $1.44m.
Both strong offers. Split was 65-35 so Galahad is getting $585k which is a right result for him!
Based on the bid I think it will end up on PPV unfortunately. Unless it’s a super stacked card I can see it doing poorly. Would surprise me if it did 100k buys in the U.K.

This isn’t a bad fight. Let’s not be too quick to pour cold water on it. I haven’t seen Galahad for a while but he was pretty handy coming up and if he’s come on from then, he‘ll be a handful for Josh.

Listen, I'm never normally one to jump on the "PPV, AGAIN?!" bandwagon but this being PPV would be a serious piss take. Anyone that believes it does more than 60k buys is on seriously hard stuff.

So he’s not allowed to fight a good opponent because he hasn’t beaten a good opponent? Where’s the logic in that? How’s he supposed to move up the levels? Who’s beaten him...

Interesting that Barry never got in trouble for his antics with BJS

Barry was banking on Hearn to win the purse bids.
Even still, he’s earning his highest purse no doubt.. also BT will do a lot of No Filter with this and on Youtube too because it’s Warrington.
Barry will get more exposure for this fight the fact that it’s on BT.

Moving up in levels is one thing. Going straight into a world title fight having fought poor competition is another. Warrington is actually a very good example of how to step up in levels and earn a title shot. Galahad hasn't really done anything of note.

'allowed' and 'deserved' are two very different things, noxy.
me saying he doesn't 'deserve' a shot is in no way mutually exclusive to the idea that he might be 'allowed' one anyway, as thousands of 'undeserving' challengers have been allowed before him.

IE there has been a lot more to his stepping-up to beating Jazza Dickenson two years ago

best wins are dickens and toka maybe?
i mean loads of worse guys get shots but he really hasnt gone about it the hard way and done beyond doubt to really make himself a real standout challenger, in terms of resume hes not much more then the typical not very proven mandatory we often see, though he is certanly a decent boxer

Very good result against Toka in America....... Warrington still has a lot to prove too. He beat a dead at the weight champion and a super bantam who is past his best. Really good fight this !!

I must've missed the part where Galahad earned his shot. Who did he beat to earn a World title opportunity? He was a prospect in his early stages of being built up last I noticed him.
Not trying to be a wiseass here either. Genuinely asking a question as it's highly possible that I might've missed something Galahad did.

His last fight was an eliminator, so he’s mandatory now. I think this is a good match.

I assume you must mean the fight over Toka Khan Clary? He fought one more after that, but it seemed just a "stay busy" type opponent given the record he had.
Not the most inspiring opponent to have beaten to earn a title shot, but hey if they wanna give the kid one whatever. Warrington won't be complaining about the easy 1st title defense I don't think.

2nd defence actually.
Frampton was the first.
But still, should be easier than Frampton this one. Barry looks rather small, not sure if he is a natural featherweight.

I was thinking he won the title from Frampton. I get mixed up with the Alphabet belts these days. Especially when it's the guy who's basically the 3rd or 4th best Champion in the division based on credentials.

Yes, that’s the one. I‘d forgotten his name. I didn’t know Galahad had been out again since.

to me, this is a very good fight, its by no means an easy defence. warrington will not be fitter than galahad, he will not have better boxing skills than galahad. its a good good match up. galahad is much avoided because of his skills and his style. he is one awkward mofo, can bang a bit and has some 'spite' in there. the inglegym will be going into this one 100% sure their man can win.

Most people including me thought Selby had better boxing skills and we know how that one turned out .
