lol a lesson? hopkins got embarrased, moaning, crawling to his knees, getting slapped silly and totally uncomfortable in there. for all his apparently silky counter punching he got outlanded by like 100+ which is huge no matter the connect. and his punches were hardly great quality aside from a very select few

hop has given many lessons, but please have the discernment to see this wasnt close to one of those times. he got put into a shell and turned into a bitch after the first round

this is the litmus test of fights to see which ppl get too caught up in boxers rep as 'crafty/slick' etc.

I will rewatch it, but I'm sure remember him landing some belting counters. When I say a lesson, I mean he showed him a few things joe hadn't seen before (as you'd expect from the Wiley old fox).

I recall his moaning to the ref, but certainly not embarrassing himself in there.

You have to rewatch it to catch a lot of Hopkins traps and counters he sets up.

Hopkins had the occasional counter right off the ropes leading directly to holding and clinching. This was not one of his better performances and he clearly lost to Calzaghe. The first round was an aberration.

Check out 46m20 where Hopkins tries to get JC disqualified/or takes a rest!
You wouldn't do that if you thought you were winning.
The punch stats show Calzaghe landing over 100 shots more.

Wasn't exactly one for the ages and I couldn't watch it again unless you put a gun to my head but I recall having Calzaghe a clear winner at the time, the 1st rd kd and 2 or 3 scrappy rounds made it seem closer than it was. B'Hop definitely bitched a lot and Joe's style frustrated him hugely.
