Takam is a crap opponent for Usyk.
Like Miller, Schwarz & Breazeale are for AJ, Fury & Wilder..
Im sure Whyte, Pov & Ortiz will announce their own one sided fights soon enough..

Povetkin needed surgery, or so they said. Ortiz' team didn't want it either. Takam was said to be next in line. No shock here.
Lol at upset ppl. I guess AJ and Sasha are both pathetic too for fighting Takam, even more so.
I imagine usyk isn't thrilled. It's better than not fighting, just not interesting. I'll watch it though. He's never dull.

Yeah, waste of time. HW division blows so much that anybody outside the top 3 falls into that category.

I'd be more excited about it if we weren't fed all the crap of "diving right in" and going for a contender right away. We end up with a disappointment that wouldn't have been otherwise. Same for Fury's choice of Schwarz. We were fed that it would be a top 5 hw. I guess they meant top 5 German Hw.

He beat Joe Joyce easy enough in the semi pros. Joyce is a big man
Joyce did look a bit smaller then. Anyone know what he weighed?
It was still “little mover vs giant plodder.”
I’d love to see that again in the pros - JJ could easily reverse that result over 12.
You think? Not so sure myself.
Little disappointed with Takam but I’ll give Usyk a break here. The man has yet to fight at the weight and he’s got plenty of credit given his opposition so far!

The Juggernaut wouldn't be favourite of course - but yeah.
Longer fight to make his weight and engine count, fine margins and all that..., why not ?

usyk has one of the best engines in the sport, if moving up doesnt impair it that will be a good ability for him to bring up for bigger lesser conditioned guys
joyce had a very good engine as an am over 3-5 but hasnt really been in a fight to show it as a pro

I just hope the main event doesn’t clash with Wilder-Breazeale.
One card is in Chicago and the other is New York.

Solid opponent. Usyk should win comfortably, but Takam is no walkover.

I'm not surprised at this matchup, but disappointed with all the talk of Usyk wanting to 'dive right in' to the HW scene. He's diving into the kiddie pool here.
I'd hardly call a Top 15-ish guy a weak opponent. It was probably just a matter of a fight being way easier to make with Takam than it would've been with Povetkin. I'm sure Usyk will be in against a major league Heavyweight opponent within 3 fights at worst.
If anything it speaks to how much he's achieved, and how highly he's thought of that stepping up to Heavyweight, and taking on a solid contender by most standards would unimpressive to some.

Total waste of time. Usyk will completely dominate. And I think getting brutally KO'd by Chisora spelled the end of Takam being considered "top 15ish".

Even if he is, top 15 at heavy means little. I'd heavily favor the, admittedly rarely, on Bert Cooper against half the top 15.

Takam to retire on his stool after a one-sided beating.

Takam was hanging in there vs AJ not so long ago and lots of people were critical of the stoppage so I don't get how this is such a bad heavyweight debut for Usyk. Its a perfect introduction in my opinion

Of course it's a decent first foray into the HW ranks. The problem is how it was built up, that Usyk was going to go right at a top contender. That created the letdown.

And talking about the outcome I'd name Usyk a winner by a KO/TKO. Usyk will outbox Takam and Usyk's power will be enough to damage him.
100%. Maybe the goal of this fight is merely to get ranked.
He is automatically WBO mandatory for Joshua so I don't think getting rated is much of a concern. Takam is not the most inspiring choice but it's his first outing at the higher weight so i'll not be too critical.

I realized (not at first glance) that you were being ironic but i'll make the obvious point anyway that Joshua had no choice but to fight Takam as he was the injury replacement for his IBF mando Kubrat Pulev and secondly that Takam was a very much tougher proposition back when Sasha Povetkin ktfo'd him.
I know that was the point you were making but I though it wouldn't hurt to spell it out for anyone who took what you said at face value.
