Rivas will then probably end up Fury’s next opponent!
Pulev doesn't need to fight Rivas. He is already worked his way up and is a mandatory since 2 years
Rumors are he'll fight Rivas on the Fury/Schwarz undercard.
I seriously doubt it will take place after the cut last night. At least not on the Fury card
Meh, it's three months from now. We have no idea, but you bring up a good point.
Trust me. Between the cut and how bad he looked he's not going to risk it.
It's 11 weeks away and that will be his excuse

Anytime someone says "trust me" I immediately don't trust him and I look for a wall to sidle up against. How did Pulev look "bad"?

Scores were relatively even going into the seventh. The fight was mostly the same boring Pulev. He could've gotten stopped on the cut had Dinu used some ring smarts and jabbed and moved. This performance was against Dinu. D-I-N-U! Dinu served Pulev his usual approach of box well; gas out; give up.

Judge scores are as a rule always wrong. I thought that Pulev was ahead. I would not blame Dinu, though. As much a fan as I am of Pulev I thought that punch to the back of the head was brutal. Dinu could have stayed down and the fight would have gone to the score cards. He was really finished at that point. They kept yelling at Dinu "Stand up!" That was all wrong too. He looked hurt and how did they know how badly hurt he really was and yet the ref kept yelling at him to stand up.

He only put on the gas for fear of being stopped due to the cut

Schwarz is in the top 50 and has two more wins than Joshua.
So there
And it doesn't matter if he isn't American because he's a jobber in a squash match.
They could have done this in March or April though.

The unbeaten heavyweight from England will play Sin City for the first time in his career, with his June 15 clash with Germany’s Tom Schwarz officially landing at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. The destination for the ESPN+ card was confirmed through MGM Grand Hotel’s corporate office on Monday.

With venue confirmation comes the first major heavyweight bout to headline at the venue since Jan. ’15, when Deontay Wilder soundly outpointed Bermane Stiverne over 12 rounds to begin his still current title reign

This is an absurd matchup. It is scandalous. It should not have been sanctioned. I just looked it up and saw that the last five men that Schwartz fought were listed by Boxrec as 129, 162, 393, 296, and 478 in the world heavyweight ranking. The rest of his wins were over similarly ranked fighters.

Big deal.

If commissions can sanction Fury against Seferi and Pianeta, there's no reason to get your panties in a wrinkle over Schwarz.

Far bigger mismatches are staged every week in boxing.

This bout is just a typical, run of the mill boxing match. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Both Seferi and Pianeta had a much higher level of competition than Schwartz, especially Pianeta.

Schwarz says he has "nothing to lose." Words of a guy who knows he's not going to win the fight.

They were set ups . Opponents brought in to lose. Huge betting underdogs.

One guy was a cruiserweight munchkin.

The other guy had been knocked out by Kevin Effin Johnson. Kevin Johnson!!

Schwarz would dismantle both those guys.

And yes, Schwarz isn't that good. But he's fine for what this is--strictly a showcase fight to get Fury some US exposure and help fuel interest in an eventual Wilder rematch.

Maybe so but Schwartz should have to work his way up not jump the line. Pianeta had fought many big names; Seferi had at least gone the distance with Charr (I gotta look this crap up. I have boxing amnesia. I couldn't even remember who Seferi is ha ha...but he seems to be about the same size as I was when I was boxing as a heavy - so now I'm a "cruiserweight munchkin"! Shows how much boxing now needs a super heavyweight div.!)

I agree and for the record (no pun intended) I believe I'm right in saying that you can't take anything from the placing of boxers in BoxRec's rankings but rather the points they have accrued.

So if you have let's say 1200 registered heavyweights, and only 300 of them have one or more points, then 900 of those fighters are listed in no particular order. I'd like to be wrong about this so if you know differently I am very happy to be corrected.

On another thread I've been told it doesn't matter because nobody cares about the ranking of fighters outside the top one or two hundred. Well I care. Maybe I shouldn't, but I do.

I still think Fury will look like shvt in this fight due to his own being out of shape and clowning.
