Golden Boy and DAZN would have sold the event to broadcasters worldwide and made them pay international license fees to televise it, with Canelo receiving some sort of commission from the resulting proceeds. However, the sort of money that would have been generated by this revenue stream would likely have been a drop in the ocean, because it wasn’t a PPV event in the UK and I believe it was free-to-air in Mexico.

True, but Mexico doesn't have ppv of any sort. With canelo being your money ticket probably not good business to alienate and piss off 30 million of his fans. I've been wondering how dazn stands with bars. Boxing ppv charged like 10 a seat per fire code. HBO and Showtime shut down bars. An underrated reason for the massive decline in the sport.
VERY underrated. When I am on the road over the many years, bars used to be the go to for PPV. Now, you can’t find one. It started in Vegas in big fight weekends and spread like an undead army.Onetimeonly wrote: ↑10 May 2019, 09:47 True, but Mexico doesn't have ppv of any sort. Brain dead movement.
Oh, related to Mexico; I am not suggesting that DAZN is going subscription in Mexico. I am wondering if they negotiated a piece of that pie with GBP / Canelo in the contract mix. “We guarantee you $350 million for 11 fights, but we get a percentage of the Mexico royalties.”
