Sport is fornicating me over tonight.

Just thinking Periban looks a bit old, he’s my age.

Think that could have gone on a little.

Bautsi sensed the end though. Didn’t think it would have gone on much longer.

He looked more off balance than finished to me.

Decent stoppage. It was obvious that he wasn't going to win and was getting pummeled.

I think it would have ended soon after but he wasn’t done when it was stopped.

Judgement call. No need to take anymore punishment.

Maybe not, but he was throwing punches till he was off balance, and nothing had hurt him from when he was still punching to being off balance.

Unlike Coyle.

I've no problem with the stoppage, but I think a one punch KO in R5 woulda been better.

Madison Square Garden, New York City - Olympic bronze medal winner Joshua Buatsi (11-0, 9 KOs) picked up a fifth round stoppage over Marco Antonio Periban (25-5-1, 16 KOs) in a light heavyweight contest.

Buatsi was coming off a three round blowout of Liam Conroy from back in March.

Periban was coming off a layoff of more than two years, and last saw action in May 2017 when he lost at twelve round decision to Avni Yildirim.

Buatsi's combinations and hand speed was on full display in the first round, as he worked over Periban. After a slow second, Buatsi really began to let his hands go in the third, as he unloaded with combinations to the head of Periban.

In the fourth round, Buatsi scored a flash knockdown when he dropped Buatsi against the ropes. Periban made it up and he was stunned by a variety of big shots to force the referee to jump in and wave it off.

Buatsi looks the nuts.
He's not far off the big beasts @ 175.

He just needs the experience and some raw edges knocked off.

Needs to learn to stop smothering his work. Picks his shots quite well though.

I thought Buatsi looked good.

For the most part, fought at close distance attacking the body and head. Then just before the finish threw a couple of long-range sharp 1, 2s that he timed nicely.

I think the sky team are being a little harsh.

Not sure he even wanted to carry on from the first knock down.

I agree. But that was exciting while it lasted. Good for the kid. Got cut and didn't get phased.
