He's earned himself another decent payday. Maybe vs Charles Martin.
Exactly what I posted on the Charles Martin thread. Martin actually has more to gain from the matchup but it would be a competitive fight...
Washington is such a wild card. I doubt he can sustain that type of Helenius performance unless something about him has changed dramatically. I'd like to see it. At least it rids us of one of them. LOL!

Easy for me to say from outside the ring but Helenius seems to go over really easily. I don't think those would have been big KO punches versus many other heavies.
He is no TFKoB but I certainly did not expect Washington to clip him like that. He had only been stopped once before.
That one stoppage was caused by him punching himself out against the stone headed Duhaupas. The same one that ended the Wilder bout on hes feet.
I was also shocked by the end.
Washington did the same to him that he did to Teper in the last bout.
Helenius is definitely done now as a contender. He can be some kind of gatekeeper for the up and comers if he still wan'ts to fight for a living.

I hope Helenius is OK. It was a bad knockout and he didn't fall good.
It looked like his head and neck really "whipped" into the lower rope.
I know. I didn't like that at all. Like i said i hope he's OK.
He didn't seem to have much defense at that point in the fight, the little i saw of it. Maybe he was exhausted. Washington looked wide open too but he got in a lucky punch that turned out to be devestating. I thought that the opposite outcome would be the result in this fight. All the indications pointed to a ko win by Helenius and he was ahead on the scorecards. I was surprised that Washington was still even fighting after what Kow did to him. Big shocker.

I don't think Helenius has been regarded as a contender for quite a while. I wasn't that surprised by the result because Helenius is that kind of fighter, he can produce an upset (Teper) or he can be on the receiving end (Duhaupas). He was a fringe contender coming into the fight and that is how I see him still.
Washington was behind on the cards but he's a big, athletic guy, and Helenius always has his head stuck up there like a weathervane, inviting someone to tag him. The most surprising thing for me was the way Washington kept going and never gave up.
It was a really entertaining fight and I wish I'd seen it without knowing the result, but unfortunately someone posted the result on another thread before I got the opportunity to see it. Maybe we could have a "sticky thread" i.e. one that is fixed at the top of the menu which lists fights which have been recently made available on YouTube without mentioning the result. That might soon become many posters' first port of call when they log on to BoxRec.

I agree, it was a decent punch but nothing really devastating. I don't like the way Helenius reacts when he's hit, he should retire.
