Chris Eubank Jr. vs. Matt Korobov - December 7, 2019
Re: Chris Eubank Jr. vs. Matt Korobov - December 7, 2019
I like how Eubank Jr is going AGAINST Eddie Hearns Advice, I wonder if Hearn advised Andrade to not fight Korobov after they were both trash talking on Twitter?

England’s Eubank (28-2, 21 KOs) came in at 159¼ pounds for his first fight at the middleweight limit in 3½ years. The Russian-born Korobov (28-2-1, 14 KOs) officially weighed 159 pounds.

Korobov drew vs Aleem last time out and is pretty old , is he really going to win so many rounds. I think Mall just got a bit complacent from having to fight down in levels as has unfortunetly become his career, now ppl overrart Koro a bit.
CEJ beats him up pretty comfortably I think

Korobov definitely has better skills than Eubank. He has a motivation problem which shouldn't be the case here. The main concerns are his age and his chin, but Eubank is not such a hard hitter as Lee.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑06 Dec 2019, 22:48 Korobov drew vs Aleem last time out and is pretty old , is he really going to win so many rounds. We know how this fight is “supposed” to go.... CEJ lasts 12, mauls and pity-pats and has much more punches thrown than Korobov. Loses the fight like Charlo did and still gets gifted the decision.
I think Korobov is going to be able to be WAY too smart for CEJ, set lots of traps and completely (and finally) expose Eubanks. Korobov by later rounds stoppage or retirement.

Eubank has never been favoured by the judges in the UK.
Ffs 1 judge had the Degale fight 114-112
Jr lost to Groves and the Cards were fair but looking at Smith vs Ryder I think Ryder dominated that fight even more so than Groves tbh.
Jr could have been given a dodgy decision but Groves was the house fighter lol.
Saunders fight I personally thought Jr clearly won by 3 rounds, thought that was dodgy as hell and the commentary was absolutely disgustingly biased

Korobov is a great technician but he seems to get drawn into a fire fight.
When he gets hit with a good shot his 1st instinct seems to be to try and get it back.
Can make for an exciting fight but that's dangerous against a quick handed fighter like Jr.
Think US refs are a bit harsher on holding and Korobov will need to hold a lot in this fight if he is to win. Groves, Degale and Saunders all held on for dear life.

Excellent insights.... I just kinda feel that as clearly as Korobov is a superior technician to CEJ, I think he possesses enough speed, “pop” on his punches and athleticism that CEJ won’t have such a huge edge on him in those regards. I thought Korobov matched up physically with Charlo quite well, perhaps even “quicker”. I’m thinking that if he hits CEJ as clearly and as often as he hit Charlo, he hurts him and stops him.james5000+ wrote: ↑07 Dec 2019, 04:52 Korobov is a great technician but he seems to get drawn into a fire fight.

To me, it seems like Chris Eubank is very underrated here on boxrec forum. He is clearly favorite over Korobov. Eubank has excellent stamina, speed, strength and overal physical toughness. His boxing skills have some limitations, but Korobov is not good enough to expose them IMO. Plus he is past the prime years. But hopefully it can be good match to save shlltty main event

Re: Chris Eubank Jr. vs. Matt Korobov - December 7, 2019
For his fight against Korobov, the IBO super middleweight titlist Eubank Jr. moved camp back to Las Vegas under the auspices of trainer Nate Vazquez.
“I’m very happy with my situation in Las Vegas, and my first professional training camp out here at Floyd Mayweather’s gym. I’m coming down to 160, and this is by far one of the best training camps I’ve had in my career,” said Eubank Jr.
“Training in Las Vegas versus training in my hometown of Brighton is a night-and-day difference. It’s two completely different environments and atmospheres. The gyms are different, the people are different. The British boxing scene is a lot more laid back. In Vegas, people are shouting and screaming during sparring — especially at Floyd’s. It’s a different experience, but it’s worked out pretty well for me.”
Eubank Jr. said Mayweather witnessed a recent sparring session in its entirety and advised him with tips on how to use his jab, hand speed, combination punching and footwork better.
“He liked what he was seeing, and offered a few tips on how to exploit the weaknesses of my sparring partners,” said Eubank Jr.
