Nobody had any expectations of Burns by then because he’d been floored repeatedly in a previous super feather British title try.
Nah that was later in his career. Johanesson beat him and had him down a few times but Burns was suffering badly from flu or cold or whatever it was that night. The best Burns would've handily beaten the best Johanesson imo....

Dodson was a bit of a damp squib, apart from when he beat up Honeyghan in 3 rounds. Commentators used to mention how he’d run a marathon in 2 hours 45 minutes as a junior, yet ironically as a boxer he always had awful stamina!

Romanov who’s already been mentioned was really talented, but couldn’t be bothered and just walked away from the sport.
There was a period when Khan was coming up through the ranks where that would have been the fight I most wanted to see made. Romanov was quality on his night and no easy work

He was you the stable of a number of other European journeymen, and disappeared and came back to it numerous times. Wonder what happened to the guy in the end?

Chrisanto Espana beat 8 Brits. He was based in Belfast for a time, so is that cheating?

Katsidis beat a couple, would of been 5 wins if he beat Burns & Coyle, Azumah Nelson again beat a couple, most others I could think of have been mentioned

Remember the old French bloke who beat Charles Shepherd? I remember him coming over here and beating a few much younger Brits, although I don't recall the exact stats. It probably wasn't five to be fair.
Can't seem to place him mate although the name rings a bell. Remember a guy Kirakosyan (spelling) beating a few of our guys and also a dude Khomistky (spelling) who beat Jamie Moore and a couple of others. Sturm as well. Beat an injured Barker, Macklin (dodgy decision) and drew with Murray in a fight i had him winning...
Kirakosyan was a hard little fukker. He beat the aforementioned Johanneson a few times and leathered Scott Lawton.
What about Choi he beat more than a few Brit’s

Freddie Miller.
He beat around 30 British fighters between 1935 and 1938. Was World Featherweight champ for most of them.

He also lost to Peter Culshaw in a fight what was scored with a 20 point must system, but that was in SA, IIRC

A right handed southpaw who kept the earmuffs on. Very unusual.
Choi Tseveenpurev immediately came to mind. Didn’t he come to live here?
