I think AJ put in a good performance, and while I agree it can’t be viewed as a ‘masterclass’ i can’t imagine anyone else in the division beating even a fat Ruiz that convincingly, besides Fury.
Wilder may have lost a bunch of rounds just through doing nothing, and Ruiz is so tough I think he could even have weathered the eventual Wilder storm to make it close on the cards. Then the next tier like Ortiz and Pulev would have been pick em fights basically. Possibly would give Ortiz the edge but would pick Ruiz over Pulev.
Bottom line is Ruiz’s iron chin and resolve makes him a tougher fight than his physique suggests, for anyone.
I agree, Ruiz has gone from being overrated to underrated very quickly
Certainly not underweight, that's for sure.

Good performance from AJ, he showed discipline and versatility. But we have to be honest, Ruiz was hugely disappointing. Even with that said, he did manage to ruffle AJ a few times and comfortably take his licks and last the distance. To me AJ look wary at times and I have to favour Wilder and Fury to beat him (by different methods).
Eddie Hearn calling it a masterclass is a step too far.
Some here compared it to Mayweather lol
Had some plum bag get in my taxi last night saying "joshua mayweathered him" fckin tit mayweather doesnt run.

It still makes me lol at how many people tried to rationalize the weight gain or say that it was total trickery

Why ? it's been done plenty of times in the past by different fighters to try and gain an edge pre fight.Yes he is fat but he didn't look any bigger than when he destroyed Joshua in June

Hearn won't pay him a 3rd time after he's turned up looking that bad and then admitting to not training.
Are you new here ?
That makes a perfect filler inner mandatory defence.

You don’t understand what running in a fight looks like. Joshua was on the back foot but he was three feet away from Ruiz the whole time.

Great innit. The day AJ comes out with a philly shell and shoulder roll counters someone is the same day the world explodes

Neither did Joshua.
So what? Are you saying it was Mayweather-esqe too? Y'know what he means. AJ boxed well but was constantly on the move. The only time I've ever seen Mayweather move to nearly that degree was early via Hatton. He'd tend to make his opponent miss with with shoulder and reflexes, not by moving

I mean, I've heard some mad sh1t on here but one win against a nearly 300lb Ruiz and AJ is now ATG Mayweather

Ruiz is a joke, typical of so many fighters, gets a big payday and all interest is lost but shouting for a rematch so he can earn another few million. He doesn't deserve a rematch if he can't be arsed to train and happy to admit it too. So much for all his big talk, the only thing big was his him.
Pretty much.
If he couldn't get in shape when he was defending champion, why should he be given a rematch?
I could understand if there was some controversy, but the only problem seemed to be that he was too fat. Well, that was his own fault. Why should we believe h'd be any different in the third fight?

ruiz had 6 months to prep for this bout !
making this excuse is a bit sad really , but I hope he comes back and gets more big fights.
But not a 3rd fight against AJ , they should both move on to other options .
I can see him getting some fights off the back of this. Maybe not massive ones, being how unprofessional he was with his weight. But, as suggested earlier, there'll probably be some fights against propsects who want to use him as a stepping stone with name value before moving up.

My point is AJ and Mayweather are like Venus and Jupiter they are worlds apart. It was more of a wlad Klitschko performance jab jab right hand grab hold, jab right hand hold. And here is me thinking we got rid of that boring heavyweight style,if AJ is gonna fight like that every fight it will turn people away from the heavyweight division unless your German.

I've watched it twice, live on the night and on repeat Sunday, he wasnt 'running'. Your opinion is clouded by a hatred of ppv and hearn/sky, that's fine but don't let the facts be obscured by that.

Just posted to another person on the current scene. If you don’t understand what running is in a fight compared to fighting on the back foot, watching Johnny Nelson vs Carlos Deleon might help you.
