Eddie's initial contract with DAZN was for 24 months with the option of an additional 6 years based on success.

Eddie is now into month 17 of 24. I'm sure he's fully aware he needs to deliver big fights, big viewing numbers and big returns for DAZN between now and the end of August to get DAZN to commit to an additional 6 years.
Has he done enough so far to justify 6 more years?

The product has been good, no way you can lose that much money and get 6bmore years. I bet they're done.

With him probably, but DAZN has to stay in Business AT LEAST until Canelo's contract expires.

I meant with him, but nobody can turn a profit in the States on boxing like that. Be interesting to see what happens when renewals come up.

DAZN's approach to the US market was highly flawed in my opinion.
Most of their fights feature European fighters or Mexican fighters. What is the appeal for a US fight fan?
Ok Danny Jacobs and Mikey Garcia have some interest for me but they alone dont justify 50 dollars a month.
They overpaid for aging stars like GGG that have not been in blockbuster fights. I mean would PBC have Pacman fight Steve Rolls or his welterweight equivalent.
Just feels like alot of bad money has been thrown at the wrong fights and fighters with the hope something would stick.
The best thing that happened for subscriptions was Joshua losing a fight because Americans were suddenly interested in a new US based fighter.
Even Canelo has been losing appeal because the replays of his fights aren't on HBO a week later to bring in casual fight fans.
And this is basically the problem with streaming services. No exposure on free TV to attract new fans. So basically the fan base is only hardcore boxing fans which is a fringe and fickle group in the US.

Brilliant deal for sports fans in general, espn shows pretty much all sports and has millions of viewers because of it.
Unlike DAZN who show lots of good boxing shows but little else from what I gather.
Eddie's favourite phrase regarding PPV 'if you don't want to pay, don't watch' is miles off the mark.
The fact is there are plenty of people who will want to watch, but can't afford to pay.
The very idea of wanting something but not being able to afford it is something he will never understand, as he is a rich kid who has never really wanted for anything.
