I've never seen that before but yeah that's pretty standard for what seems popular with a lot of youngsters I think. Every generation of teenagers are looked at aghast by their elders but I have to say this particular generation do seem especially cretinous. I was teaching at a particular Uni for a big chunk of last year and while there were a lot of really bright and interesting kids there was definitely a kind of 'tribe' that were like mumble rap day-glo kids with all the wonky dreads and that and being a kind of gormless dumbo was sort of part of the look, like an accessory.

Contrast that with the Drill kids I worked with in London who were 'the real deal' in the sense that they were actually in gangs, they were equally wilfully stupid. Really dead behind the eyes and all headed for the dole queue, prison and an unhappy life. They all had "anxiety and depression" as well which I think kids are just conditioned to say these days.

The ongoing motif of just being able to throw money around as if it were nothing is something that bothers me. At least previous generations of teenage subcultures were looked at as some sort of threat; this lot do seem particularly wimpy and listless.

If this wee slapper came on to any of us in a pub or club we'd all be right in there like a rat up a drain pipe ffs! You're not gonna stop and ask her for ID, though you'd regret that the next day when you saw her skipping along the street in her school uniform..... Doh
