Probably the last 10 years have been a bit of a golden renaissance for British Boxing.

There's been so little on now for so long I'm realising I am able to live without it. Maybe I should cancel all the sports. I never watch anything other than football. I pay for SKY, BT and BN... But have watched none of it for a month.

Forget monster shows.

We've got Quigg/Carroll and Brook/Deluca as our current Saturday night fights on Sky and nothing else scheduled.

BT have got one York Hall show at the end of February.

Channel 5 have got a show in Doncaster at the end of March.

And that's it. Not one World TItle up for grabs or anything like an important fight. Very hard to get excited about anything to be honest, and whilst I am looking forward a small number of the US based fights, the Saturday night stuff is the bread and butter of UK Boxing and the basis of what really was a bit a of a boom period from say 2013 through 2018.

I'm surprised it hasn't happened sooner tbh. When you see Arabs buying premier league clubs it seemed a matter of time until the penny dropped that british boxing was for sale. Scum.

I really like going to the world title fights or at least international matchups staged in the UK, the ones that turn out to be gruelling or at least competitive 12-rounders. I've been to very good or good fights like Warrington v Amagasa, Smith v Ryder and Gavin McDonnell v Rey Vargas with a decent enough view for around £45.

I know it's early but I don't see any value for money fights worth travelling for. A shame.
