How many do you think there are?
I think that there are 2, but at times I was told that I'm wrong.
That's why I commented - post 3 on page 2 - "Perhaps i ought o say "any" gender" (as opposed to "either")
Like I also said on this thread "the world's going bonkers". Why do the 99.9% of sensible people allow themselves to be dictated to by a vociferous minority of nutters ???

I agree with you, though I probably wouldn't have conveyed my thoughts quite as politically-incorrect as you have done (as there are likely many overly-sensitive young millennial souls that would be utterly outraged by your words).

Now if they could just remove female boxing from telecasts entirely .....

I must admit I'm coming around. I used to think the idea of women boxing utterly abhorrent, whereas now I'm sort of torn between mild taste on the one hand, and oogh this could be a good fight, on the other. I blame Katie Taylor

Yes it was a good one. Persson deserves another crack at her.
Of course I meant to put mild distaste in my post above not mild taste. I'm not sure what it says about me that the error bothered me enough to mention it here

The women’s belt needs to be called the women’s champion because, while great athletes, they are only the champion of other women....the men’s middleweight, welterweight, or light weight champion is the champion of every living soul at 160, 147, or 135, so no need for any extra definer.
That makes total sense but dont waste your time trying to convince any gender-bending lunatic of that, because gender-benders are not rational people, they are confused & deranged.
Actually, it doesn't. As long as men haven't fought women (God forbid because that would make other men abuse their wifes etc, like in the 10's when White people turned violent towards Blacks when Jack Johnson won) then they are only men's champions. The assumption that men are everyone's champion is based on an idea that we are superior than women. Stronger, probably, but not superior. All people should be seen as equals.
"Stronger" happens to be the relevant difference. In addition to all-around more athletic. It isn't any mystery what would happen to top female boxers if they fought against top male boxers.

To me this topic is a non issue. It doesn't affect that one is for men and one is for women.
Nothing changes. If it makes them feel like they accomplished something with the name change so be it. It will not increase the popularity of womens boxing

This is a bad joke that only leads to the people behind it wanting more bad jokes.
Equal Titles......both say WBC MW Champ Of The World. Then it is Equal Pay demands even though nobody wants to buy the women's fights like they do the men's.
Even Clarissa Shields uses woman.....GWOAT.....Greatest Woman Of All Time. It is absurd to drop the woman's distinction to me.
Then we will get crack pots like Serena Williams demanding equal pay when they do not do equal work or draw equal money. I never got how anybody could be so dense to demand equal pay with Serena Williams. 3 sets is not 5 sets. 2 minute rounds are not 3 minute rounds. 10 rounds is not 12 rounds.
If you want total equality then compete against the men. Serena Williams would have made a ton less pay competing equally with the men than she ever did competing in the less than equal woman's division. The GWOAT is the same. If she was in open male and female divisions she would just be beaten down every time and making no money.
I am open to any real women fighting real men if they want and any of the fake women out there fighting real men if they want. I am against the fake women fighting the real women though and the same way for all sports that are split into men and women. Only real women should compete against other real women unless the real woman agrees to fight the fake woman or real man.

Imagine.... A forum full of men that enjoy watching men beat each other bloody and unconscious getting so upset that a governing body drops a word (that it is under absolutely zero obligation to either use, or not use) from one of its own titles.
Such snowflakes, I'm genuinely a little embarrassed.

The only fight I know between a man and a woman in pro boxing was won by a woman by second round knockout.
The greatest female boxer to ever walk the planet was Lucia Rijker. Lucia was also the greatest female kick boxer to ever walk the planet This opinion is close to unanimous by anyone who knows anything about combat sports. She has no male peer in this regards. Combined record of 54-0, 39 KOs, (one draw in her 2nd pro fight) Many people thought she could compete for a title in men's boxing & kick boxing, including Oscar De La Hoya. So they put her in an exhibition against a no name male fighter, it was to be her first of many. She was absolutely throttled. It was beyond disturbing & will probably never happen again because of this incident.
You are very naive if you think women can compete with men in boxing
The WBC don't care a lot as long as it nets them more money.
Everyone else accepts that men and women are not the same and it's silly to pretend otherwise.
Not to mention liable to promote and fuel further conflict and resentments.
This wilful stupidity is actually excessively dangerous in combat sports.
In athletics it's merely embarrassing.

It makes absolutely no difference. Do Olympic medals have the word female on them? No they do not. I can't understand why anyone would have a problem with the change.
