Yeah I’ve heard that Farang getting rowdy and out of control in Thailand can get dealt with pretty quickly and harshly by any random Thai dudes that are around it. Especially if there is any insult to the King, apparently. Good attitude, I like it.

They’d have killed us that night for sure. Blades were out. We were oblivious upto that point and it was them who started it over a paper towel tip. When my mate called one of them Jackie Chan all hell broke loose

Same all over Asia - here, they will all jump in if it is one of them vs a foreigner - when they start shit they'll make sure numbers are in their favour, don't worry.

If this was back in Glasgow, they wouldn't have even dared looked at you.

Saying that, foreigners who do cause trouble end up getting beaten within an inch of their lives. You have to know the score here in that passers by see whats going on, they will help out if it means getting a punch or a kick on some dirty crappy foreigner. None of that one-on-one stuff happens here.

For days after it we were followed about the place. We eventually just moved onto a new gym on a different island. I’d been quite oblivious to most negative stuff while I was there but after that night a google search told me the taxi drivers, toilet attendants and bar staff are all part of the Samui mafia and will stab you and leave you in the jungle if they feel like it.

I put 1000baht in the toilet attendant box and tried to apologise but the wee guy was going nuts “he call me a Jackie chan, he say fornicate you jackie chan!!” There was no coming back from it. The funniest moment was when one of them ran at my mate and like done a jumping push at his chest and just bounced right off him and splatted against the wet toilet floor. Was hilarious.
