Reading about Dean Pithie beating Naz as an amateur made me remember that Affif Djelti went on a bit of a tear against British 'young guns' like Pithie, Alex Moon and Charles Sheppard around 2000, when he would have been about 40, so definitely fits the criteria of the thread.

Don't think I've ever seen a boxer lose his first fights by DQ before or since , Djeti had lost to Barry Jones and Colin Dunne here , and I think that he was thought of as tough but beatable , thing is Jones and Dunne were several levels above Shepard, Pithie and Moon .

I was there in Montreal and Hopkins was in his head big time!! Doing push-ups in between rounds and just so efficient with his output. It was masterful boxing and I almost felt sorry for Pascal. Hopkins was 47!!! That’s madness.

I had Relikh winning narrowly, can see a case for Ricky but all 3 by comfy margins and 1 scoring 10-2 just gave a dirty feel. I think it's pretty pro Ricky to give him anything out of the first 2 or last 3 tbh

Sonny Williams got a sizeable reality check and I don't think he ever fought again despite starting to get a reasonable amount of hype down under. Although checking his record he did get a UD in a 8 rounder two years after Botha. He's not fought since 2015.

This thread stirred the memory of a particularly awesome one from the early 90s, veteran former lightweight champ Jimmy Paul schooling then-unbeaten "star-in-the-making" Todd Foster.

Weathered a heavy start, outboxed him, busted him up & stopped him. Foster was another whose career never recovered after he lost his flashy record.

I'm surprised no-one's suggested Salido v Lomachenko.

I'd also think Youssef Al Hamidi v Crolla deserves an honorable mention.

That Crolla loss--I wonder how many guys lose to opponents with record like that and yet end up doing what Ant did

That was a crazy fight.

Hopkins old manned Pavlik. Never gave him a sniff.

Great performance by a guy who I find very hard to like. His white boy thing was the final straw

I never bought that Grant 'Old-Manned' Rhodes, I just thought he was a lot better than him. Often when Ingle fighters couldn't hurt their opponents their fights would be messy, dull affairs.

It's Ernesto Bergamasco doling out a lesson in correct delivery to the younger mug, an Italian who boxed in the Munich Olympics and made his way to London in 1976 for a match with Dave "Boy" Green on the Palomino-Stracey bill at Wembley, in which he was stopped in five rounds. Green was a monster in 1976 and Bergamasco's corner had to literally push their man out at the start of one of the rounds. The old boy still has it, though.

Agreed, looks to me like they set the lad up. Definately out of order.

Hard not to giggle watching it as it is quite surreal, but defibately feel a bit sorry for the bloke that got plastered, there seemed to be little need for that.

Fran’s Botha almost did a similar job to Sonny Bill Williams. I swear I remember reading that they changed it from 12 to 10 rounds in the middle of the fight to save Sonny Bill.

How about the 43 year old Saoul Mamby (41-23-6) taking the 0 from 24 year old Larry Barnes who was 17-0 at the time. Mamby won the New York state title in this fight.

Anyone mention Foreman-Moorer yet? Atlas told Moorer all night to stop moving to his left and that Big George was looking to land a big right hand and then that's exactly what happened...
