Still taken by how many got really hyped by Tyson looking good and in shape.
Among them is James Toney. Damn. This is crazy, then again Tyson is a real legend.
Tyson did look very good, but I don't look bad hitting pads or a bag myself.
The problem starts with return fire. Kind of like the difference between throwing a football vs throwing one when people are trying to sack you.

True story. When I was working out a gym when I was about 17, I was pounding the f*ck outta the bag. Combinations. Heavy shots. The whole nine.
Some little black kids walked up to me, and said "Damn. You must be as good as Tyson huh?"
To which I immediately just laughed and said "Oh, no no absolutely not. I can only dream of ever being that good"
Point is. Some people can be easily impressed by hitting a bag I guess.
To paraphrase Chong Li in Bloodsport "Very good, but Bag. No hit back!"

He's an active athlete, and although he's not decent he's "remotely decent".
My statement was more to suggest that he can beat another retired top level Pro in theory such has Holyfield, or he can beat some current pros who are terrible such as those on the domestic scene with several losses.
Holyfield would still kick the sh*t out of Tyson.
It would most likely be a case of who lands first or who collapses first. Tyson is 53 and Holyfield is 57. They will still carry some of their power but their chin and stamina will be gone.

It's great to do in front of chicks.
If I may say so I do hit pretty hard and have gotten comments like that too. My problems would be I'm as easy to hit as a wall and I enjoy getting hit about as much as I'd enjoy being inserted into a meat grinder.

Holyfield will always be the mentally tougher of the two, willing to go through more to get the win.

I actually never minded getting hit too much, but I was always trying to improve my defense.
Never did wind up getting all that good at it.

I would agree with that but age conquers all eventually. An example of this is the final fight of the Liddell v Ortiz trilogy in MMA. Ortiz was a good fighter but Liddell had his number and was a much tougher guy in their fighting days. When they fought recently, Liddell at 50 had zero punch resistance. Guys in their 50s fighting becomes unpredictable because their bodies are much more frail.

The key word here is "exhibitions." Think Foreman in Toronto or Jack Dempsey vs Cowboy Littrell.
Unless he pulls off the comeback of all time, we're looking at 3 rounds, likely with head gear, against someone ranked perhaps 100 or a UFC guy.

He hasn't fought in 5 years. Believe me, I'm not some he's still got Tyson fan, but this doesn't seem like an unclimbable mountain. Mike could never beat holyfield.

Holyfield would beat Tyson if he was 62 and Tyson was 58.
My money would always be on Holyfield.

If the rumored BKFC offer of 20 Million is legit, and they're willing to dig up an absolute bum for him to fight, I'd do that if I were him, but only if they really scrape the bottom of the barrel.
When they said Tyson vs Briggs I thought "Ahh fornicate that. It's gotta be a softer guy than Briggs"

With Holyfield also announcing, "I'm back", I wonder which washed up old fart will announce that he is also returning to fight exhibition bouts for charity next?
These guys must be suffering from extreme boredom during lockdown and must be watching old videos of themselves from 30 years ago and forgetting that the date on the calendar now says 2020, not 1990.
“Mike Tyson” back in shape: ‘I want to box four-round exhibitions’

Mike Tyson’s return to coaching has prompted a social media storm after a video confirmed the self-proclaimed ‘baddest man on the planet’ nevertheless has lots of velocity and energy at the age of 53, as he ponders boxing in exhibition bouts.

I just want to say on or about April 29th in this thread I said Tyson can get 20m for an exhibition I was mocked. I get it it was in good fun. Dollars to donuts Tyson barring a fubar in this event will be fighting Fury or some alphabet champion next year in the middle east for a payday that would even make Mayweather jealous. Tyson is booked for tnt wrestling. Some believe in fate, some believe in coincidence but Google the parent company of tnt. Just saying hbo max is launching next week or so, coincidence, fate or maybe a firework to the moon is in play.

I think Tom Little or Dave Allen might fancy their chances
But seriously I don't think he's trying to forge a path to professional boxing again. It's the action he probably misses, training and fighting even on a lower level than he did do in the past .
If he And Holyfield want to spar with headgear for charity event then I don't see a problem.

An "exhibition" is a broad term. Foreman destroyed guys in exhibitions and so did Joe Louis and Dempsey. Or, they can feature punches that are more like taps. A freak fest against Foreman would break the bank on the curiosity factor, a ppv killing. For the record, if they were doing serious punching, Foreman stops him and I'd bet on it.

I saw an interview with Oliver McCall the other day, he’s suggesting a Super Six style tournament for all these former champions on the comeback trail. McCall would probably have the best shot at winning it, he’s the only one who has stayed active...
I’m not condoning the idea of any of them fighting again, by the way, saw that training footage of Holyfield he looked every one of his 57 years...

Hoyfield was arguably past-his-prime 25 years ago.
He looks in great shape for a 57 year old. Not fighting shape of course, but fabulous for his age.
How many guys that age do you know look better than he does physically?

I always predicted they'd have a third fight, but I never imagined it would take place when one was on the doorstep of 60 & the other was in his mid 50s.
This has farce written all over it.
