Sa Wang Kim v Eusebio Pedroza
Cleo Garcia v Jorge Lujan
Al McCoy v Joe Louis
and I would also mention Abe Simon did not deserve his rematch with Joe Louis after getting his head handed to him by Lem Franklin

That was the opener of a short lived Friday night fight reboot. Not a ton of American fighters at that weight and I think he beat Gomez as an amateur.
On Wilfredo ledger he defended against Julio Hernandez who was 6-9.

I agree. Hernandez had no business in the ring with Gomez or any title fight. I will also add in two challengers of Koichi Wajima. Domenico Tiberia and Matt Donovan. Tiberia lost 4 of his last 5 going into that fight and Donovan lost 3 out of his last 4. And both challengers had been stopped in their previous fight to the title.

For that screwup, Wilfredo shouldn't have had to do a mandatory for a year. Derrick probably still has nightmares about that whipping that night smh.

Derrick landed plenty of leather. He just couldn't handle the incoming. Entertaining fight.

You think Derrick could have handled Palma, Randolph, or any of the WBA crew of champs at that time?

Maybe Randolph, he definitely would handle Julio Hernandez.

Probably 75% of all challengers, and a fair few champions in WBO title fights in the 90's.

Step forward Daniel Eduardo Neto who fought Francesco Damiani for teh WBO heavyweight crown in 1989.

Quarry should've fought Foreman instead of Roman.

True, but Foreman's team wanted nothing to do with Quarry.

More likely 16-7. Highly dubious that any of those fights claimed to be held in Greece (and Zagreb seems like an obvious outright lie) actually happened. They bear all the marks of fictitious record-padding.

That speaks volumes too. Probably didn't want Bonavena and Shavers either.

Possibly, but Quarry was known as a great counter puncher which I'm sure was intimidating for his team because they were familiar with Big George's shortcomings. Bonavena was incredibly awkward, so he was a difficult out for anybody and wouldn't have been a big payday either. Shavers would have been a fun matchup, but despite an impressive record, he wasn't really on peoples radar until he landed the uppercut on Ellis.

Zsolt Erdei fought some absolute shockers. Danny Santiago and George Blades. And the Australian guy, Paul Murdoch, could barely stand up straight.
Also Bobby Gunn, plus the Algerian fella Azzaoui for Enzo Maccarinelli on the Calzaghe-Kessler undercard.

Hard to imagine Quarry having much success against Foreman in the early seventies. He wasn't quick enough to avoid Foreman's sledgehammer jab or his bombs and would have had great difficulty getting on the inside in order to land his own shots, counter or otherwise. I disagree that Foreman's team wanted 'no part' of Quarry. Shavers could have landed his big right and it might have been a bomb fest like Foreman/Lyle. Bonevena would've been crushed, IMHO.

Right before facing GGG Ishida actually gave Pirog a decent fight despite the wide scores (he was 'in' almost every round), one of the fights that make me question that Pirog was as good as a lot seem to think. Sucks tthat GGG-Pirog was cancelled when Pirog retired. I think Dimmy's legacy benefits from retiring early, now people can forever speculate without any loss to cite
