I genuinely believe Hearn is scared of another loss for AJ. Brilliant salesman, Eddie, but he knows it’s disastrous for his business when Tyson beats him.
The guy (AJ) couldn’t even put it on Ruiz in the rematch. Does anybody really think he’ll beat Tyson on the back foot?

I'm not sure one way or the other, I've underestimated fury several times.

Actually reading back AJ did call out Fury after his win over Klitschko in April 2017, although by that point it was becoming obvious Fury was not in any condition to fight

Well, after the Wilder draw, it wasn't clear, what's up next. The rematch or Wilder-Joshua, or Fury-Joshua. After Fury KOed Wilder, it became clear, what remains. However, this rematch clause delays it. Anyway, in the process of the lockdown there were some news about Fury and Joshua agreeing on terms for their potential matchup (look the opening post of this
thread). As if nothing puts it away or delays it, after Fury and Joshua deal with the current contract obligations with other fighters (Pulev, Wilder, Usyk, Whyte-Povetkin winner). So, probably it's fair to start to count the length of Fury-Joshua buildup since the mid 2020.

The perfect scenario goes this way:

- Late 2020 - Fury beats Wilder, Joshua beats Pulev, Usyk beats Chisora, Whyte-Povetkin 2 (it's harder to pick a fovorite here)

- The first half of 2021 - Fury vs Whyte-Povetkin 2 winner, Joshua vs Usyk.

- Late 2021 - the fight to determine an undisputed champion, to crown an inarguably best mofo.

However, Fury and Joshua can drop in trash cans WBC (where Whyte-Povetkin winner gonna be a mandatory) and WBO (which tracks Usyk to the contender's status) and fight each other in the first half of 2021.

Agreed on Hearn scared of AJ losing again, he’ll do anything to keep AJ and Fury apart. Probably the reason he signed Usyk too, to keep him away from AJ. He’s desperately trying to get Whyte back in the mandatory position in time for Feb 21 so it’s another hurdle in the way. No way would he be pushing for a rematch less than 3 months after a one punch knockout in any normal circumstance.

It’s not an immediate mandatory, though, if Whyte wins. That ship has sailed.
Love it how people are saying Eddie will do this, that and the other when he’s up against MTK, Arum and FW. It’s not his call.

Fury and AJ will spend the rest of their careers calling each other out; generating publicity off each other as they go. The promoters will do the same. My guess, the fight never happens.
