Anybody in the higher weight classes with a little boxing knowledge would take out this big powerlifter (Bjornsson). Silly to write about this actually...

I remember him doing okay, lost I think, and pretty much just bulled forward until he went knackered.
ya that's true, which is why it's funny to see people touting him because of great fitness (it did at least seem better than thors though) and big man speed etc, he's been in the ring and was easily beaten by some aged rando. had the typical stiff slow strongman boxing

by and large the strongmen who've tried boxing have been pants--slow, poor stamina, weird pushy punching technique, and flinch/recoil when touched.

Hall will “win” because he’s actually done a bit of boxing
They will both be useless though

Have a look at lightweight pro Scott Lawton sparring hall and make your own minds up

does anyone know his coach at 8.47. what hes saying seems to be a tad sycophantic. eddies not keeping his hands up and is obv developing bad habits. hes been training about 6 months now, i would expect someone training full time to look SO much better.

While Butterbean was a joke figure, he could def fight and was a banger.

Saw the last two rounds. As others have said Thor was better than I expected, but had it gone a round longer I expect he would have at least touched down.

Thing is if I was advising them I’d say do everything you can to get under 300lbs. I don’t know how many rounds the fight will be over but if it goes into the last round, even if it’s a 4 rounder then I’d expect someone over 300lbs to be hanging out their arse. If it goes the distance, the lighter man gives himself a huge advantage. Their mindset will not be able to cope with that tho, I reckon they will see being the bigger man as an advantage. On top of that Thor isn’t going to give up on strongman from what I understand so losing hundreds of pounds and then trying to put them back on again isn’t going to happen.

Bjornsson-Ward post-exhibition reaction

Icelandic strongman Thor "The Mountain" Bjornsson loved every second of his exhibition bout with Steven Ward – and has warned Eddie Hall that if he doesn’t take it equally as seriously then the Englishman will be knocked out in the first round. Thor and Ward took part in a three-round exhibition bout in Dubai over the weekend, and The Mountain had plenty to say following the clash. Bjornsson said: “What I’ve seen from Eddie Hall doesn’t look good. He has to be taking it seriously. He just seems to be paying some poor guy to not punch him back. If you want to beat me, you have to spar and get punched in the face. If not I will knock you out in the first round."

He continued, “This feels great and I love it. Thanks to Steven Ward for doing this. He’s a really nice guy and not many people would want to face someone who weighs 130lbs more than him, so he has the biggest heart ever. For him to do this exhibition with me means a lot. Ward is the same height as Eddie Hall, so this was a good experience. I can’t wait to get back home and train to be even better. I’ve been doing this for six months and I have a huge respect for the sport and its athletes. I wanted to get my technique right first, and then I’ll focus on speed and everything else. The fight with Eddie will be six rounds, and I will be in the absolute best shape of my life. In September I will knock him out!”

Ward, who was knocked down, said: “I thought Thor looked great. I’ve never seen a man that size move so well. I got a bit careless at one points and he shook me to my boots with a shot. It’s great to be involved in this. Thanks to everyone that came out and to my management team MTK Global. They’re getting every boxer great opportunities.”

Wish he'd keep his hands up, it's not like he has any real speed to avoid shots.

I’ve lost a bit of respect for Eddie during this ‘prep’ for their so called fight.

He’s on his you tube hitting little gymnasts and proclaiming himself to be the hardest puncher in the world. He’s prancing about like mayweather and looks like a total tit while doing so.

I hope Thor knocks him clean out. He’s a great athlete Eddie, one of the strongest most determined guys who has ever lived but his ego is going to be his undoing in this.

Thor came across horrendously when Eddie Hall won the WSM. Someone made a very well made video with behind the scenes footage and interviews with other strongmen and some former winners of Worlds strongest man. Very clear that Bjornsson surrounds himself with yes men.

As you say tho some of Eddie’s antics in the build up are doing a good job of losing him fans. ‘I’m gonna shatter your f ucking jaw’ and all that crap. I’d imagine Hall currently has his share of yes men.

I’ve seen the video and Thor is definitely a sore loser. I’m not saying he’s any better than Eddie as a guy but he’s showing boxing proper respect with his approach. Eddie’s just a huge massive ego

eddie seems to be training purely for fitness and is obsessed with heartrate, Thor at least seems to value the fundamentals and has humbled himself. its ego vs brains basically.

Eddies training team are very sycophantic.

saying that, eddie is obv by far the superior athlete so he could just steamroll the big guy.
