I make Fury-AJ 70:30 at the minute, because I think AJ has to be aggressive to win and I still suspect him of lacking confidence. But if he smashes Pulev and goes at Fury like he did Breazeale as a result, that's definitely a 50:50 for me. His one-two won't cut it against Fury — he needs to double and triple his jab and throw his combinations of old.
I think the Juggernaught is a bloody hard night's work for anyone.
Although I would make either of the top boys favourite over him, I doubt anyone will be queuing up to face him.

What's Hughie's deal now - Is he no longer a matchroom fighter? Saw his jumper with MTK and HennessySports on it.

Absolutely. I agree that Aj and Fury would beat him but nobody wants to fight an 18 stone, ironed chinned fighter who just keeps coming and coming

Yep.

Someone like Tyson is all wrong for Usyk. He should avoid it all costs.

How dare you!

This is the most exciting hw period since the 90s.

Perhaps it’s poor in comparison and made to look better by the dross throughout the millennium but I’m going to enjoy it whilst it’s here.

There’s something genuinely special about a heavyweight title fight.

Not even close either.

The most exciting thing to happen in those years was Harrison stopping Sprott. What does that tell you?

funny enough boring wlad was in some of my fave hw fights during that period, brewster 1, peter 1, josh

brewster actually was one of the best value guys, first fight vs wlad vs an awesome comebeack, blew out golota in style, come from behind war victory over krasniqi, fun tough controversial fight vs meehan, then a war and eye losing slobber knocker when he lost title to liakhovich

When was Wlad Sanders?

Great rewatch that, he couldn’t miss with his straight left that night.

Hurt iron chinned Vitali too with that shot.

I think Joshua does right now but Im not discounting Wilder either..despite the one sided beat-down in their second match, Wilder did give Fury his toughest test yet in match one and held him to a draw..also not discounting Andy Ruiz who of course, has a win over Joshua..

Agree in part when considering the Fury comeback and Ruiz shock.
But has there been a period in living memory when the top heavyweights have been so poorly skilled?

Joshua fights by numbers; Wilder doesn't even try to box .. and Fury is hardly gifted with skills.

People often criticise Mike Tysons initial title reign as being against a very poor crop of heavyweights; but with hindsight I`d say quite a few of those heavyweights had skills far superior to todays top three guys.

Yes Fury has skills - its just they are far lower than what youd expect from the top heavyweight.

I agree it’s better right now than say 2003-2015, but that’s not saying anything at all, and in my opinion it’s been overall a very poor division since Lewis retired. I don’t rate either Fury or Joshua particularly highly in the grand scheme of things, Wilder is total garbage if you can stay away from his wild right hand, and the rest are miles behind.

Hopefully Bridgerweight will be better :yay:

Tony Tucker in the mid-80s looked incredible. Biggs was unbeaten Oly gold (beating Lennox), Tubbs had the fastest hands you’ll ever see at the weight, Pinklon was lb4lb listed in mid-80s, and Truth Williams had outjabbed Holmes for 15 rounds. Spinks was probably the fighter of the 80s before that night. Tyson ended everyone.

Although I would make either of the top boys favourite over him, I doubt anyone will be queuing up to face him.
And I think it'd be so hard to look good against him, even in a shutout.

I wanted to see Miller against Fury when most people thought that madness, purely because I think Big Baby's size and endurance would've made it a fun watch; maybe. I mean boring, sure, with loads of clinching and huffing and puffing, but if that floats yer boat, and I guess it did mine!

It was nobody's first choice, obviously, but at the time everyone was bypassing everyone, and I just thought Miller was better B-side value than most. Until TFKoB's short reign, like.

The press conference for Miller vs Fury would have been more interesting than the fight.
If he said anything about Fury's mum he would have had the full family after him.
