It amazes me that Gareth Davies is still getting gigs, the guy really is a fraud of the highest order.
i think hes great. one of the few journalists that genuinely promotes and regularly covers combat sports, he also gets deeper interviews out of fighters.
boxing fans are first to moan when mainstream media don't cover it, then slate the ones that do.

I despise Hearn style money grubbing. Think back a few months to how he was furious about the way Kell and his father had conducted themselves over comments made relating to the making and televising of the last fight. Soon gets over it when there's another sweaty shilling to pounce on. It's pathetic. No amount of money would make me act in such a shameful way.

If it makes all involved good money then he’ll be fine with it. It’s not the only time he’s changed his mind on someone - Warrington left, Hearn slagged off the PPV against Frampton and went head to head on it and now Josh is back with him. Similar has happened with loads of boxer/promoter relationships.

I know all that, I'm just saying I despise the idea of putting money over everything else and making yourself look like a whore.

We’ve all probably done things in our jobs that we didn’t particularly want to do but we did it as that’s the best thing for the business.
In previous job I worked with a lot of TV presenters/personalities - there were several I didn’t like or particularly respect but still had to do it, get them on side as that was the best thing for the TV channel.
Eddie’s got a duty to his company shareholders (mostly the Hearn family), his employees and broadcast partners. If him making Khan vs Brook helps them then I wouldn't begrudge him doing it.

You're confusing issues IMO. It's not just about mainstream media covering it, it's about how they cover it. For example, Donald MCrae has done some fantastic stuff for The Guardian in recent times.
In terms of Davies specifically, I simply think there are far better writers who have deeper knowledge of the game and greater insights. And to be clear, I'm objective enough to be able to detach my view of the man from the output when required - I've always found Steve Bunce to be a pugnacious character, for example, but that doesn't stop me reading articles like his latest in BN about Nigel Benn and recognising class work when I see it.
By contrast, I can't think of a single interview or article by Davies that has stuck in the memory... and that alone tells you something about his 'contribution'.

Amir Khan reveals attempts to make Kell Brook fight happen in 2021 and predicts, ‘I KO Brook in under six rounds’
Amir Khan has told talkSPORT that he wants to finally make a fight with Kell Brook happen this year.
And Khan said to talkSPORT Fight Night this past weekend:
“What’s the fight that everyone wants to see?
“Everyone wants to see the Kell Brook fight. We’ve been talking about it for years and years.
“Look, me and Kell are probably past our best, I’ll be honest. But at the same time, we’re both around the same age.
“I think it’d be a good fight between us to see still who the number one is in Britain.
“So I called Eddie Hearn and I said, ‘Let’s make it happen.’
“Eddie said, ‘No worries,’ spoke to Kell’s family and Kell’s father wasn’t interested in it, he said, ‘No, we’re gonna look at other options.’
“What other option is there for Kell Brook to make a good payday and fight someone with a big name like myself? Unless he fights someone with a world title or in America.
“So I’m scratching my head man, I’m thinking like, ‘What’s he going through?’
“What’s going on with Kell Brook? How come he doesn’t want the fight? Let’s make it happen.”
Regarding where the bout would take place, Khan added:
“Let’s be realistic here – a fight in the Middle East obviously that could happen over there.
“We have a big fan base in the Middle East and my last fight against Billy Dib was there.
“But really, why should we go there when we could do it here in the UK? We’re both British fighters, let’s make it in the UK.
“Doing that in a football stadium here, that could be massive. So let’s hope things open up.
“Once things open up properly and we sort out the third or fourth wave, let me put a beating on Kell Brook.”
He concluded:
“The only two fights out there for me in my opinion is Kell Brook or Manny Pacquiao.
“Otherwise – I’ve been in the game a long time and when you’ve been in training camp after training camp and having almost 40 fights now.
“Your body is breaking and you need to call it a day one day.
“So I am giving it the last, last chapter of my boxing career. I get either fight and I call it a day…
“The prediction for me and Kell Brook? I knock out Kell Brook in under six rounds.”

I like Khan as a person. He’s had some ride too since Athens 2004. A career to be proud of. However his last significant win was Devon Alexander. In 2014. He chose to mug Brook off when Kell was chasing him. He’s also obsessed with Pacquiao.
What stadium are him and Brook filling in 2021?
Hand on heart I would not buy Brook v Khan if it was PPV. And I bought Usyk v Chisora.

I had a look at Khan’s record before you posted that, because I genuinely couldn’t remember either. Now I know, I do actually remember watching the whole card (wasn’t it on Channel 5 or something?).

Basically anyone that can bang. Both these guys are so fragile now.
That's another thing that makes this fight, now in 2021, a hard sell, either one could get KO'ed real early.

Think id still back these 2 vs the young crop of english welters, But tipping point is less than a year away probably. I would Love this then winner vs Connor benn (if he can get 2 or 3 decent wins inbetween.) he kinda has the name and supoisldy does the numbers to make it worth their while.
