Those hematomas on Ortiz are nasty, Seniesa is just punishing her.

49 - 46 Ortiz after the 5th. Hooker is working a lot but Ortiz is landing the more compact shots up and down.

Perfect fight for Ortiz. Hooker looked fairly dangerous at times but Ortiz took him out well.

Great learning fight for Ortiz, Hooker came to win and gave Ortiz some problems, he didn't mind fighting it out with him and Ortiz was looking a bit blemished, Ortiz throws everything with bad intentions even his jab he steps right in with it, vicious body attacks and rights upstairs, he really brings the heat, i had it even after 4 but Ortiz began to pull away and put it on Hooker, put him down in the 6th with a left uppercut/right hand then finshed him in the 7th when another right had Hooker down for the count, looks like Hooker hurt his right arm, still onwards and upwards for Ortiz, he's a problem

:TU: enjoyable fight while it lasted! Interested to see who he takes on next. Hooker started well but he can't help but get into a firefight when he should be keeping things longer off the jab, it does make for good entertainment though I have to say. Mean Machine next for Ortiz Jr maybe? Could be a cracker.

I liked the look of Ortiz. Kept it tight, moving fluidly from range up close, good combos to head and body. There was a left hook directly to Hooker's solar plexus in either the 4th or 5th that took the wind out of me as well. It obviously hurt Hooker badly, he told his corner he couldn't breath. I've had a football kicked directly in my solar plexus from a few yards and it completely paralysed me (obviously for a few minutes, not long term), I was down gasping like a fish out of water, couldn't get any breath whatsoever. I thought of that when that shot landed.
Hooker just lacked the power to hold off Ortiz and by swinging with Ortiz, he was contributing to his own downfall.
Good, entertaining fight though.

Fans showing disrespect and booing Hooker. He put them straight and exited the ring like a warrior.

I did not understand a single word he said, other than his 'fvck y'all!' at the end.

@Onetimeonly if you are talking about the gonzalez vs estrada fight, that was a great fight great fighters high level stuff, but I found the imminent ko of either hooker vs ortiz more dramatic...more drama..

There's been some good fights in the mid to lighter weights lately, Estrada v Gonzalez, Benavidez v Ellis and now Ortiz Jr v Hooker.
Things look on the up and up for the sport, there's plenty of quality out there and no lack of effort from many of the participants.

Both Ortiz and Hooker were certainly up for a fight and didn't waste anytime getting straight to it.
Ortiz is a very bullish come forward and in your face boxer opposed to a more technical Hooker on the back foot fending him off with a solid jab.
Ortiz seemed to win the opening couple of rounds with solid hooks upstairs and a pretty decent body attack, the 3rd was a bit closer but Hooker clearly won the 4th as the gap narrowed on the cards as it appeared Ortiz was maybe starting to come up short on ideas.
That didn't last long as Ortiz mounted a serious body assault in the 5th as Hooker was beginning to show signs of wear and tear, that paid off for Ortiz in the 6th when he scored the fights first knockdown and took a clear lead in the contest.
Ortiz sensed the body work he'd put in was starting to pay off and he eventually got the stoppage he was looking for in the 7th round.
Good fight from both boxers, Hooker may have lost but he was no slouch and had his moments, Ortiz gets the win and there is room for improvement in certain fields, but for now he's on an exciting 17-0 with 17 KO win streak in a very competitive Welterweight division.

The fight was decent. Hooker is a tough fella, who isn't afraid to go toe-to-toe, but he has already suffered twice from this. He should learn to use his jab and range better,

Hooker pushes punches. Will be interested to see how ortiz handles someone who can sit on an uppercut
