May 22...hottest match up of 2021 :box:

Let's not turn our back on the good things in life lads :TU: We keep saying the best don't fight each other, but it's happening right here.
Let's embrace it :box:
IMO he's already beat the 2nd best in the division, when he beat Prograis.
This will also be at a UK friendly time, according to Arum.

I remember him saying main event will be between 11pm to 1am.. around those times. Who knows.

1am main even start time is still better than having to wait and get back up at 4am

i agree, prograis is better than ramiriez. although the prograis fight was very close, and it doesn't always work out that beating one guy means you're also gonna beat the guy 1 down from him. josh hasnt had to travel to another country for a big fight before either, sometimes fighters are thrown off with having to reset their schedules etc

looking forward to it, seems like the type of matchup where it's gonna be a battle for sure :bag:

Right, but still I'm pretty confident in picking Taylor over Ramirez.

Jose Ramirez-Josh Taylor Card To Be Held At Virgin Hotels Las Vegas Venue May 22

Bob Arum’s promotional company will bring its first Las Vegas boxing card since the COVID-19 pandemic began to a venue other than MGM Grand Conference Center.

Boxing Scene has confirmed that The Theater at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas will be the venue for the Jose Ramirez-Josh Taylor 140-pound title unification match May 22. Virgin Hotels Las Vegas refurbished the property formerly known as Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas and opened for business late in March.

The Theater at Virgin Hotels was once known as The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. Numerous boxing cards were held at The Joint before the change in ownership early in 2020.

Before Virgin Hotels Las Vegas offered a significant site fee to host the Ramirez-Taylor fight, Arum’s decision-makers at Top Rank Inc. considered MGM Grand Garden Arena and Michelob ULTRA Arena as their two options for Ramirez-Taylor. Michelob ULTRA Arena was long known as Mandalay Bay Events Center, until Mandalay Bay entered a naming-rights agreement with Michelob early this year.

Depending on which of the aforementioned arenas was chosen, Arum had hoped to sell between 6,000 and 8,000 tickets for the Ramirez-Taylor card. Between 1,200 and 1,300 tickets will go on sale for Ramirez-Taylor because The Theater at Virgin Hotels is considerably smaller than those two arenas.

The Athletic’s Mike Coppinger was the first to report that Top Rank struck a deal with Virgin Hotels Las Vegas to host the Ramirez-Taylor bout.

An official announcement on the Ramirez-Taylor venue is expected sometime this week. Tickets for the card, which will take place four weeks from Saturday night, will go on sale soon thereafter.

I don’t know much about Ramirez but surely it’s still a dangerous opponent esp in Vegas?

Ramirez lacks polish, but is a tremendous fighter and throws a shed load of punches.

He'll either swamp Taylor, of Josh will counter punch the hell out of him.

A bona fida undisputed world champion is an uncommon event since the mid-1980's, and even more so since the inception of the WBO in the late 1980's.

The way Ramirez and Taylor have both got to this point makes this clash all the more mouthwatering :yay:

For all the talk of stepping up in weight for the winner, I'd much prefer whoever wins to try the impossible and hang on to the belts until the inevitable happens...one of the Alphabet bodies takes one away

Having an undisputed world champion in the sport adds so much gravitas to their standing.

It's one of the reasons Halger is so fondly remembered...he was simply THE world champion.

Worried he might get paid?
Doesn't he do loads with his amateur coach anyway? Hes done bits alongside BJS and Fury in America. He'll be ready.

His trainer Ben comes over as a bit of a simpleton, Josh should get some high level trainers on board..he will realise he has to do this sooner or later.. but sooner is hundred percent what he should be going for

Think Josh is one of those fighters that doesn't really need a trainer per se, he seems like he can do it by himself, has the skills and clearly has the motivation.

My only worry with Davison is that he tends to overcomplicate things, almost in a bid to show how knowledgable he is. I don't think Taylor will benefit from that.

What a joke by UK broadcasters.

Unless Arum wanted too much.

He hasn’t said anything.

I remember Loma-Teo he was critical of Uk Broadcasts..

Also, it says it starts at 1.30am UK time. Shame that. I remember him saying it was gonna be around 1am for the main event so it’s more UK friendly. But I guess cause Fite have it, he’s not assddd..
