Ah come on man, would you say that if he knocked out a loved one of yours? A 6'4" almost 19 stone pro boxer hitting anyone is likely to cause serious damage or potentially kill someone. No excuse to punch a woman in the face even if she provoked him. He broke her cheekbone and eye socket and she now has double vision, so an attack that will likely cause her mental and/or physical issues for the rest of her life.

I’d not begrudge him a boxing licence when he gets out tho, as long as this is a one off incident.

No, because it's indefensible a big, strong guy could hit a young woman. I'm not defending him but I bet she looked different at midnight on a Saturday night.

Fact still remains he's a 6' 4" profesional boxer , he's fought internationaly has an ameteur , he trains with Tyson they say , so i gather at that size he probably spars him , , and if not him definetly other big heavyweights , he says he's scared of no one and can go all the way ,,, So who in there right mind would believe a woman could hurt him ,, Naaw , she's abused him , pushed him , But i can gaurantee she never hurt him ,

It was said in court that she pushed him twice. Yesterday you knew nothing about it but now you're claiming she attacked him. It seems like you're trying to change the narrative.

Of course he will have an excuse, most people have excuses for doing all sorts of things to try and justify their behaviour. However at the end of the day I bet most of us have probably been in situations, at some point in our lives, where a drunk women/partner/wife was being an idiot and/or abusive, Id like to think none of us punched her in the face though.

I’d say most of us have also been out in a pub / club too and came up against a group of lads throwing their weight around.

She may well have deserved it but you can't do it unless she had a gun or something.
Fighters have a responsibility.

I read the article, same as you.

Self defence is based on reasonable force, so answering a bit of pushing with belting her hard enough to break an eye socket goes way beyond that. As soon as that punch landed he was screwed. I presume the lad hasn’t got much of a record (if any) to come away with just 13 months. It seems the woman perhaps hasn’t helped herself with her approach, but he’s lucky he hasn’t killed her. Could have been looking at a manslaughter charge over a daft drunken row.

Similar principle too if you’re claiming provocation or if you’re solicitor is trying to mitigate the offence

There was a documentary on a few years ago called something like one punch killers, all about people who were convicted after punching someone in a street fight and killing them, it’s more common than you think.

I know a fairly high profile pro who’s done it. Where do you draw the line? Let people take the piss or clout them. It’s not their fault they do it better. Lewis Hamilton wouldn’t get banned for doing 34 in a 30 zone.

Hardly a like for like comparison. I’m sure if Hamilton was speeding and killed a pedestrian he would do time. You can’t go round punching people, there is no reasonable excuse for this fighter to smack a women, unless he genuinely was in fear of his life and defending himself, which doesn’t seem to be the case.
