macklin boxed well in the first 8rds in new york v martinez , i think macklins perforfance against strum was the bigger robbery he looked big powerfull moving well in germany cheated

Errol Christie and Dean Francis were leagues upon leagues above Jamie in ability.

As good as anything we’ve seen on these shores in terms of potential/talent. Ever.

Christie...as fantastic as he was, didnt showcase it in the pro ranks and was found short at pre world level.

Francis, I was a huge fan and yes it's a decent shout but really he was still in "top prospect " mode when his injury happened. He wasnt a long established European champion. I'd have Francis in the Spencer Oliver bracket....looked the business, looked a champion in waiting (a world champion) but needed more wins at Euopean level.

Jamie Moore must cringe everytime he hears someone say this brit has an "overdue " title fight. The guy beat world champions and the best Britain had to offer for a sustain period of time. Never seemed to even get close to a shot

Errol Christie was my fave uk boxer of the 80s, but his fatal flaw was he couldn’t hold a shot - he could in the amateurs though, oddly enough - God love Errol though, just a great human being and it was another tragedy he never lived up to everyone willing him to be UK’s next superstar.

I came up with six names and after checking they were ALL wrong.

Ajose Olusegun sprang to mind. He won an WBC eliminator. He was kinda fringe euro level at best I suppose.
