Some fighters without great speed had great timing
Very few had both, even fewer had both along with power.
Step forward, Julian Jackson.

I think some fighters have underated speed as they might not be flashy. Bhop is someone I think has fast hands, even if not as fast as his flashier rivals RJJ and DLH - but he out speeded Pavlik and Tarver.
Another fighter who might not look flashy quick but I always thought had quick hands was Steve Robinson.
id agree with panther if we're talking late career bhop. he'd slowed a lot by then , even though he had decent speed earlier in his career.
his fight vs pascal is a good example of him beating someone both faster handed and harder punching than himself
true but his hands looked like warp-speed compared to the Pavster
true, although, even at 43 or whatever it was, that was not quite 'late career' hopkins, the old bastard
at lhw, in the last few years when he had the title run there, he was 1 potshot here and there, and a lot slower than he used to be. vs pavlik and in his mw days he threw a lot of nice combos and moved around more fluidly with less holding too. as he got even older he knew he had to adapt though

One of a kind. Well, two, with Archie Moore.
What about John Ruiz? Granted he knocked down Holyfield once but I struggle to think of any other displays of power

Yeah I was meaning Hopkins in his hey day.....fights I particularly noted his handspeed were against the likes of Haakar, Joppy (who had quick hands himself) and Eastman
Robin Reid didnt have fast hand and didnt seem to have chilling power (but obviously a strong boy who could stop you in your tracks). Glenn Catley amother and Ritchie Woodhall I would say fit the thread title more....in fact lots of Super Middles from that era....Nardiello, Malinga, Lucas.....all world champions

Gary was quick but a horrible tendency to cut cost him his career, which is a shame because he deserved a shot at the British bantamweight title. Gary worked for
Boxing News for a while and was mine host at the famous Thomas a Becket pub on the Old Kent Road in the 1980s. He used to chin the troublemakers with a left hook.
Apologies I meant John Davison who lost to Steve Robinson.
John seemed to lose a lot of his power when they dropped him from featherweight to bantamweight in the unpaid ranks, which is quite a drop. He stayed at bantamweight for a few years but missed out on Olympic selection in 1988 and decided to turn pro (at featherweight again).

Tyson Fury to a degree. Gets by on awkwardness.will beat you up but is not fast nor super powerful. Uses his sheer size to win. For a guy that size like wlad he should be flattening them all.

Tyson uses is natural size advantages to the max, add in great timing and keeping his feet moving, it all makes him so difficult to beat.
While he can be dropped with single shots, keeping him down is another thing, the only man I see beating Fury is himself, I can't see the AJ fight being competitive.

Fury’s boxing iq is second to none. He’s also very adept at using his size in a dirty manner. He broke Cunningham and Wilder leaning on them in every clinch.

dont agree his sheer 1 inch advantage over wilder , or 2inch over wlad, he has power just he has been cautias after fights like cunningham i reckon,

Vito Antuefermo and Carmen Basilio. They were just hard as nails and were 15 round fighters.
