As officially announced yesterday, former WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker (29-2-1, 21 KOs) will clash with Derek Chisora (32-11, 23 KOs) on December 18 in a rematch at the AO Arena, Manchester, England. Parker scored a split decision over Chisora in May.

”There were other offers on the table and talk of fighting Joe Joyce, but we felt a Chisora rematch made sense,” Parker’s manager David Higgins told Stuff. ”They are both household names in New Zealand and the UK and are globally recognized. The first fight was close … we saw it as a close but clear win to Joseph, and we’ve decided it’s worthy of a rematch.”

The Joyce bout would have been way more interesting and it have more sense than the Chisora rematch.

Conor Benn To Be Added To Parker-Chisora II Card; Whyte-Wallin Undercard Update

Conor Benn will be back in the ring before the end of the year.

The WBA Continental welterweight champion recently signed a new promotional pact with Eddie Hearn and Matchroom.

Benn (19-0, 12 KOs) outpointed Adrian Granados at Emerald Headingley Stadium in Leeds, exclusively live on DAZN, earlier this month, on the undercard of the technical decision between Josh Warrington and Mauricio Lara in their rematch.

After remaining undefeated, the son of former world champion Nigel Benn signed a new multi-fight deal with the Essex-based outfit.

And Hearn revealed that the 24-year-old, nicknamed ‘The Destroyer’, will appear again on December 18.

Benn has been confirmed as an undercard addition to the heavyweight rematch between Joseph Parker and Derek Chisora at the AO Arena in Manchester.

A whole host of other names will be added to what Hearn calls his “banging Christmas cracker” in due course.

Meanwhile, promoter Hearn has offered an update as to what will appear as part of the supporting cast to Dillian Whyte’s return next month.

‘The Body Snatcher’ meets Otto Wallin on October 30, exclusively live on DAZN, at the O2 Arena in London and it has already been confirmed that Alen Babic, the Croatian heavyweight who is managed by Whyte, will meet former WBA ‘regular’ champion Lucas Browne on the undercard, while Chantelle Cameron will take on Mary McGee in a unification showdown for the WBC, IBF and Ring Magazine world female super-lightweight titles.

But Hearn confirmed that there will be a number of additions to the card announced in the coming days, including Johnny Fisher and Ellie Scotney.

Fisher has stopped all three of his opponents to date since turning professional, while Scotney has a pair of wins in the paid code following a successful amateur stint.

Former British light-heavyweight champion Craig Richards will return from his defeat, at the hands of Dmitry Bivol in a challenge for the WBA Super world title at 175 pounds back in May, on the card and undefeated British and Commonwealth middleweight champion Felix Cash will fight for the first time since stopping Denzel Bentley in April.

Recent Matchroom acquisition Jordan Thompson (10-0, 8 KOs) will see action for the first time since November 2019 and Youssef Khoumari, another Whyte-managed fighter who is coming off a decision win in Barcelona earlier this month, will take on once-defeated Texan Jorge David Castaneda who last time out beat previously undefeated prospect Otha Jones III.

Cant belive this card is going head to head with josh taylors UK fight, Almost seems cruel, i think taylor will still do decent numbers, but he deserves the spotlight on him for being elite and coming home undisputed, but because he is small a huge chunk of the audience will be instead watching some heavyweight contenders and a welll hyped connor benn.

Parker looking forward to Chisora rematch

“I’m looking forward to the challenge of fighting Chisora again in a rematch,” said Joseph Parker to Pro Boxing Fans. “It was different from any other fight I’ve had because we were all stuck in a bubble in the same hotel. Wherever you go to, you run into your opponent. It was a good fight, and it was very close, and I’m very happy I got the win.

“He [Chisora] put it on in the beginning, and I was moving around, and he caught me with a good shot at the beginning at right at the start of the fight,” said Parker.

“Derek is one of those fighters that is very tough, he comes forward and throws big bombs, and he never gives up until the very end. I thought it was a close fight, but when I watched it back, I thought I won the fight clean,” Parker said of Chisora.

“A lot of people thought it was close and felt he won or I won. It’ll be good to run it back and see who is actually going to get it this time.

“He [Chisora] is probably the most pressure fighter I’ve ever been in the ring with,” said Parker. “I’ve had Dillian Whyte, Andy Ruiz, but Chisora, he just comes forward, and you have to give him a big one to get him to stop, but he just keeps going forward and doesn’t stop. That makes for an exciting fight,” Parker said.

Parker wants to throw more punches

“You can’t just move around. You have to take risks and mix it up. We showed glimpses of it in the first fight, and hopefully, in the second fight, we can show a lot more.

“I feel like what we’re working on now is a very similar game plan, but it’s going to be. And I have to get in and throw more punches and be more aggressive. I can say it, but until the fight happens, I have to show it.

“He’s got a new trainer and has been training hard since the fight. And he’s fit; he’s strong and ready to go,” said Parker of the 37-year-old Chisora. “I’m not sure if he’s going to be nice before the fight, and I’m not sure what he’s going to bring. I’m just going to be focusing on myself.

“I feel it’s a lot better than the first,” said Parker about his coach Andy Lee. “The first one [training camp] was getting the introduction and getting to know a different style.

“So, I feel with this second camp, everything is flowing a lot better and a lot quicker than it did in the first camp. I’m excited to put in the world and see what the results are fight time,” Parker said of his rematch with Chisora.
