Barely Loma is a hype job. He can be overrated, but he was a legit p4p figher and he can bring this claim back.

Making this comparison is like saying Roy Jones was over rated because he lost to Tarver.. Roy Jones was not over rated. Nor is Loma.

Lomachenko fought for over 6 years with out a loss in mostly title fights.

Light weight is not Lomachenkos best weight, but he does well enough in it and is getting old.

He may have few more big wins in him also.

thereverend wrote: 28 Nov 2021, 19:31 One of the silly arguments you see is 'x lost to y, and y lost to z, z is better then x.' An even sillier argument is 'x lost to y, y got beaten by z. Therefore x is a bum because z isn't the GOAT'. The outcome of the Kamboros/Lopez fight has nothing to do with how good Loma is. I would happily put money on Loma to beat Kamboros.

Loma certainly has been overrated. A couple years ago people were claiming he was one of the top 10 p4p fighters of all time and how he'd dance circles around guys like Willie Pep. (I'd love to watch that one) He can be bullied, and like everybody else he has trouble against bigger fighters.

But you can't discount how great he has been. He's a hall of famer and had an amazing amateur career. He's probably lost a step, it happens when you reach 30. Boxers that rely on speed and timing decline very quickly, as soon as they lose that fraction of a second. He's been in a lot of fights, many more then almost anybody else at his age and weight class. It's not surprising he's had trouble with his shoulders and hands. He's come back from numerous injuries. His body and muscles can heal but the main effect of that scar tissue is going to be slowing him down. He's not shot but his best years are behind him.
Loma will be an all time great, more as an amateur, but has showed his awesome skills as a pro. Not sure I've seen better footwork. Wear and tear catches up. People that haven't competed at a high level have a harder time understanding. I've never boxed, other than sparring, but know as a former college athlete in wrestling what the physical toll it takes.

Experts say you lose 1/2 pound of muscle a year after 35? Makes sense, I weigh less at 65 than I did at 35-40. Just an old fart now. :OhYes:
Loma is NOT an all time great fighter he would need to beat Teofimo then maybe 2-3 of the other top LWs to be considered.

Again it’s amazing how people try to ignore the fact that he struggled against Campbell in a decision win yet young 23 yr old Ryan Garcia blasted luke out with a single body shot.

Loma has a waaaays to go to be considered an all time great.
Perhaps Loma could get some pointers from Ryan Garcia, who is on your current ATG list? :OhYes:

...not sure how 2-time Olympic champ and a road warrior with still very solid professional record can be overrated.. :maybe: unless of course we are talking about fans who keep his icon next to their toilet seat... :D

I'm not sure if I would pick Kambosos to beat Loma. Certainly wouldn't be surprised either way. For me this is the logical next fight for Kambosos.

Especially now that it has been well established that Teo was a weightbully.

Lol @ weight bully. Everyone has the same rules. Guys are only called weight bullys if they are successful. Equal risk is involved too when cutting that much weight. Weight bullys don't exist, imo.

I think Haney is easier fight than Loma, I think healthy Loma eats up Kambosos , Haney shown he can be hurt by linares and really never fought anybody yet..

Weight Bullies can have Very Profound Leverage Advantages though. You're being too much tunnel vision realm. 🤔

Like Jones, Loma's moved up because he wanted the challenge and not because he had to. His record remains amongst the very best.

No one achieved more in as few a number of fights.

This is a primarily a money sport and eventually you have to go where the money is. Especially as you near the end of your career. This is where most champions tend to encounter their most embarrassing losses.

Knowing when to quit always depended upon having made enough money beforehand but nowadays you can always come back and fight YouTubers if your name retains enough cache.

Anyway we all saw what happened to Teofimo Lopez when he no longer had that size and weight advantage.

He now finds himself between a rock and a hard place as moving up does not bode well.

If an all time great like Pacquiao was unable to carry his power as he moved up, where exactly does this leave Lopez?

A similar place as David Lemieux I'd reckon.

I guess they would, if they are taller. :OhYes: Are there any short weight bullys? I'll stick to my tunnel vision. They could solve it all by same day weigh ins.

Great win for kambosos.
Lopez was clearly over cocky.

Loma looked nasty in his last fight. Considering that hes a small lightweight, hes clearly a great fighter. I hope he can get back the lightweight title, a very lively division!

ya loma looked good last no doubt, obviously limited opponent but one that had given teo a decent fight

commey is a big guy who though limited skill wise can bang, if loma gets through that impressive enough, defo want to see him in with kambo or another higher level guy next

Loma may not KO Commy, but will beat him soundly. Loma would embarrass Kamobo if given the chance, imo. Better someone else beats him first, and sets up a big fight. Imo, Tank is the toughest at 135. Haney might outbox Tank, but may get KO'd.

Agreed, great fighter but never close to the best in the world. Comp level went way down but nobody criticized him.

Yes, i agree.
Somehow loma looked a little over cautious v lopez early.
A credit to lopez's power and sharpness, but still we expect a faster start if they rematch.

People were creaming themselves after decent wins!!! Why???? Hes a good fighter but not special.

Roy Jones, Manny Pac, Floyd, Canelo those are special fighters. Loma was never in that category
Loma would make Ryan Garcia cry if they ever fought.

I think that, until we have more information, it's best to sort of split the difference and assume a little bit of everything. Vasyl was probably a little overrated, Teofimo is probably kind of good, Kambosos is probably kind of good, Teofimo probably had a good match-up with Vasyl, Kambosos probably had a good match-up with Teofimo, etc.

If this is any similar to Hopkins-Taylor-Pavlik, then each upset belongs to a slightly worse fighter than the one he beat. But it will be hard to tell how good Kambosos and Teofimo really are until they fight another opponent of Gervonta / Haney level.

teo-loma-kambo at least these dudes stepped up, too many bois sitting around on t heir arses or fightng constant c level dudes

with some fans, youre better off just fighting a bunch of cans than stepping up and losing to top dudes
